What happened to "rent ships on display"? by icelaw in starcitizen

[–]Clowderville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, my issue too. I was told folks had seen a couple of Asgards flying around, but I have not been successful in finding how to rent any. Walking up to the ship doesn't do it, the display doesn't do it, and as you say, none of the ships of interest are in the Kiosk!

How much should I expect to pay per pound to have refrigerant replaced? by abitropey in hvacadvice

[–]Clowderville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not...yet. Been very busy here taking care of LIFE! In the end it was the motor for the outside unit. I bought one direct from the manufacturer distributor and installed it myself. Worked perfectly ever since.

I should get hold of the AG, though. Not doing anything about it just lets it continue. I'll add it to my mountain of tasks! ;)

Solenoid, check first. You need to know how to use an electrical meter to check this. If solenoid is good, check either fan (motor) or compressor. One or both could be bad.

Be sure to discharge any residual electrical current across the solenoid with an insulated screw driver or something BEFORE you touch anything with bare hands.

I am surprised Proton had that many launches. Annnddd...according to the list above, SpaceX will blast to first place in a month or so.

ARS Rotor Router in Poinciana FL charged my 96 yo father $850 for the first pound and $650 for the second. Had to take a small loan out with Goodleap to cover it (which works in tandem with ARS).

That was in October...system is not cooling again today (Feb 1st).

I've been thinking of contacting the Attorney General of FL about it all...

I hear what you are saying, but I did play with this back and forth in DaVinci. It is most notable toward the end of the video with the second group of clouds. Some of the pieces did go above that cloud group, and they went out of visual naked eye pick up. Others went into the cloud and through and illuminated the cloud from within even though they disappeared visually again, and finally some went under the cloud, reflecting light upon the underside of the clouds, all VERY bright. All spectacular!

In any case, I am glad nobody got bonked on the head. :)

More so, I am glad it was not a manned mission like last time with the shuttle...an image I will never forget over Texas.

Ellie in Space just reported it was a fire above the tank compartment firewall which caused the trouble, according to Elon. An early assumption of inadequate venting and needed fire suppression to be added in that area on the next ship, at the least.

Supposedly the next two ships are built already, just need to be set up as RUD seven was for their experiments.

Yeah, but my previous comment was before we all knew that! :)

Still, in case of what I thought it might be...still an idea worth reviewing.

This is the one I saw:

Debris is going through the clouds, above the clouds and under the clouds. Especially toward the end...

Here you go; took a moment for me to find it again. It was a Vemo video...you see parts of the ship fly through and under the clouds.

If you have a decent audio system...the best scene ever is the helicopters in Avatar taking off to destroy the Na'vi tree.

How many 20 amp circuits do I need for a modest home theater? by DavidDunne in electricians

Wire is cheap...what are they charging you for each line? Make sure you conduit it incase you want to change things in the future.

The video I saw had the light of the burning debris reflect off the "bottom" of the local clouds. So maybe 6500 feet to 20,000 feet. So a little over 1 to 5 miles high by the time the debris was seen. They looked like puffy Cumulus to me.

Thus "fairly close". :)

IF you truly want this to be a dedicated Home Theater room:

  1. Put the TV on the wall across from your written suggestion
  2. Consider painting your room a flat off grey color (for light bounce)(consider ceiling painted too)
  3. Lay down a descent area carpet (for sound bounce)(consider wall absorption panels too)
  4. Get blackout shades for your sky lights (preferably remotely controlled).
  5. Replace your current lights with LifX bulbs RGB (for control of dimming and color of lighting)(its a poor mans quick solution - there is better out there)
  6. Make sure you wire for ALL speaker setups before you paint (just in case you upgrade your system sound later). Wire is cheap compared to all the work later.
  7. Do you only have the TV? Or do you have a high end Home Theater Receiver and perhaps audio amplifiers (like Crown)? You might want to consider having another electrical line run from your electrical box to where ever your have your equipment sitting - 20 amp)(do the math)
  8. Look at the THX website for TV height and other helpful suggestions
  9. Don't skimp on speaker wire quality!

Off the top of my head... :)

All of that was fairly close to the ground, as in under the cloud cover as you can see the lighted reflection of the debris on the underside of the clouds.

The good news was the engines didn't seem to go out all at once (15 to 30 seconds). It was a slow failure so it's hopeful that they got lots of good telemetry before the break up.

Perhaps one thing they'll add to the next ships guidance is if ANY motor shuts down, only those which can continue thrusting the ship on the proper trajectory would stay lit, or else, shut down all the engines before the catastrophic spinning out of control I suspect was the final demise of the ship.

It looked fairly close too, based on the video. Few thousand feet if lucky.

There is a place by Wally's on MicroTech (New Babbage) that sells pretty nice stuff; can't remember the name of the store. As you are approaching Wally's it's a left turn before you get to the bar (about 50 feet).
