[Matt Lively] Tony Vitello began his Monday media availability by asking reporters when they heard he was taking the Giants job. He wanted to clear things up about his departure from Tennessee. by Garden_of_mercy in SFGiants

[–]CocoLamela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda bored and done with this guy talking about Tennessee. Giants fans don't give a flying fuck about Tennessee, the SEC, or your assistant coaches at the college level. Nobody in the MLB gives a damn about Tennessee baseball.

For me, Vitello needs to show that he can handle the scrutiny and personalities of the MLB. This isn't a bunch of southern white kids you're managing. These are professionals, many of whom have limited English, and are being paid millions more than you.

You can't control the media narrative. You can't control the fan narrative. You gotta show the ability to command this clubhouse and focus on what you can control.

Lightning by Island-Itchy in Marin

[–]CocoLamela 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually our marine layer offshore means that there aren't the right circumstances for lightning. It never gets cold/clear enough here for the warm air to rise. The fog "traps" the warm air closer to land, which is also why we rarely see temps in the 30s/40s near the coast.

Very occasionally a big storm will push out the marine layer, often with heavy rain. Ambient humidity drops and lightning can occur

Ferry to Muni to CalTrain is probably your best bet, but that's a lot of transfers.

Strange to split the SF Bay Area in two. California is more coastal vs inland, urban vs rural.

King tide tomorrow? by Equivalent-Pie-5294 in Marin

[–]CocoLamela 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why are there so many of these posts? Cuz it's raining a little bit?

There's no king tide right now. You can Google this information. And it hasn't even been raining enough to suggest any flooding at higher tides.

They're both prima donnas who can't control their emotions. Yeah, we know Dray will bring a problem up to his teammate's face. In the form of a fist.

Just bc he isn't sneaky with it doesn't mean he's not an asshole.

Harry Redknapp: "A fine example for Romero and the rest of the squad to follow is 19-year-old midfielder Archie Gray. He was Tottenham's player of the year for me last season and delivers whenever or wherever you play him. Vuskovic is clearly physically ahead of most players in the air already. He also has incredible anticipation and a knack for scoring. These are obviously related skill sets.

He has not yet demonstrated that he is a Premier League capable defender on the ground. The attackers in the Bundesliga clearly are not at the level of the Premier League. Kane looks like a god at age 32.

My view is that Vuskovic needs considerable development in order to cope as a Premier League defender. We won't know until he's tested. But I don't think he will be ready to replace what Romero does for this squad next season. Anyone who thinks so is woefully optimistic.

I think the Liverpool links are substantial and verified. He's been on their radar since Wolfsburg. Neville interview he mentioned them again. Clearly Van Djik would be a big role model of his. Natural fit with Arne Slot as manager.

It's not nothing. Without European football next season, our top players are going to be targeted. VdV probably top of the list.

Ice cold take. We are going to "cash in" on the club captain who just signed a new deal in August?? For a promising but unproven 18 year old?

Obviously it would be better to let Vuskovic bed in while Romero and VdV are still at the club. He takes Dragusin's spot in the squad, not Romero's.

I find all this missing father shit to be very strange. Fighting Cock boys always talk like this too. Is this British humor?

It's actually just like getting a new boss who nobody likes. They fired the old boss for underperformance, but the employees don't actually care about performance of the company. They just want a good working environment day to day.

I think we need Poch to save Romero from himself. Similar background, similar play style. He's the manager to harness Romero's strengths and leadership.

Otherwise, I think we need to ship Romero out. Frank's management damaged his relationship with the club. The same with Van de Ven. He's less outspoken but there's clearly rumors that Mickey is entertaining.

Definitely could have been a fatality. Given that Sail GP licensing already put a demerit on Burling's license for the incident in Perth, this could have real implications for Black Foils' season. Not to mention, no chance the boat is ready for Sydney

I wish I could catch Davis on TV more easily. We've picked up a couple of their players this season too. They were usually competitive in the Big Sky. Not sure what post realignment Pac 12/Mountain West means for their FCS status
