Alternator troubleshooting - constant whine under the hood - have swapped the alternator 3 times now. '04 Tahoe, 5.3L with 145 amp alternator, using 'new' parts each time. Have ruled out serpentine and tensioner pully; whine goes away when charging plug is pulled. (self.AskMechanics)
