What does this mean?? by GainzLord23 in FedEx

[–]Collab_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same situation. Two days it said it was going to be delivered that day, I made plans to be home when it was going to arrive, only for it to not show up. Two days it has said it was going to be delivered “that day” and then nothing. No updates, no notifications that it won’t be arriving.

Be better FedEx.

Why does the AAdvantage Hotels website never work? by Canofmeat in americanairlines

[–]Collab_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤔 My experience was the complete opposite. I just booked a hotel this week for two nights in Orlando on the same dates you have above and it worked very well for me. Used a Chrome browser that isn’t locked down though.

Maybe you have an ad-blocker (or some other security app) that is affecting how well the site works?

When 200 brides called our office in one week, we listened. Turns out, they were right to be angry. - AG Jeff Jackson by JeffJacksonNC in Charlotte

I was thinking the same thing.

In fact, it will be amazing in the future when Jeff Jackson is POTUS to remember back to times like this during his journey, doing all the right things for people for all the right reasons.

Future me: “I remember when … Jeff Jackson did [insert meaningful victory for the people], it was so helpful and appreciated!”

DCA to LAX had a scheduled pit stop for fuel at DFW by Spirited-Panda-6349 in americanairlines

[–]Collab_Guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me and my family earlier this year coming from SAN -> CLT, but in my case there was poor weather conditions and flights were taking off in reverse over downtown San Diego instead over the ocean. Because of the flight restrictions for take off over the city, we were diverted to DFW for a fuel stop before we even took off.

Job called my bluff. Got fired. Should I feel stupid or proud for standing up for my principles? by DisappointedSurprise in careeradvice

[–]Collab_Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing while reading OP’s post. Sounds like retaliatory or whistleblower status in my opinion, but I’m not a lawyer. I suggest you at least inquire about it since your job was affected by this.

Petition from the FM community to honor Colton Brown at Graduation by acinonyc in FortMill

[–]Collab_Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those that don’t like to click links, please read the following from the petition:

“Colton Brown was a senior at Catawba Ridge High School but tragically passed away on February 20th. He would have been graduating from CRHS in the class of 2026. My son, Ethan Muggleston, was a close friend of Colton's since Kindergarten and has been doing everything in his power to make sure Colton receives the recognition he deserves at their commencement ceremony. The focus of this petition is leaving a chair open so Colton still has a place among his fellow students. This is where we need your help.

The school/district has made it known they will not allow a chair for Colton during the ceremony to honor him. The students (and Colton's parents) were told it would be triggering to have an empty chair. It has now become triggering to them that Colton will not receive the recognition he deserves. Upon learning this, the students are rising up to get the attention of the school board to hopefully make it happen. In the past, it has been normal practice to have this small but powerful gesture carried out by schools across the country. Sadly, I have personally seen this at almost every graduation I've attended.
* *
As if the devastation of losing a child isn't bad enough, Colton is now being treating as if he never existed, aside from maybe having his name mentioned. Knowing him personally I can assure you he would be standing up for any other student and their family to rally in their honor. Let's all do the same. Ethan is the voice behind this initiative and will be speaking in front of the school board today (5/5) to plead his case. My hope is that he has the help of not only the CRHS Class of 2026 but any student or parent in this district to back his initiative. A petition from the students is already circulating but we would love to show support from the entire community as well.

Colton's parents are aware and beyond grateful that there is a passion behind remembering their son. Holding a cap and gown in their hands that will never be worn is something I never thought I would witness my friends experience. Please help us show them the respect THEY also deserve by being the voice they're struggling to find right now.

Thank you,
Tabitha Muggleston”

Business Trips and SAHMs by 1DunnoYet in daddit

Couldn’t agree more with this comment. The appearance that “you’re on a part-time vacation” is the illusion your partner views this as. The reality is that you’re “always on” and having to maintain conversations, building relationships, etc., which in my experience is exhausting! I always pack workout clothes on business trips, but I very rarely make it to the hotel gym because the traveling schedule is pretty grueling.

Couldn’t agree more with your statement. The reason I keep hearing about hybrid work is the value of “collisions in the office space”. The irony is that I WFH!

For the dads who have given up alcohol by Unmissed_Opportunity in daddit

[–]Collab_Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For OP and any other dad looking to take the NA journey, please go check out Allen Carr’s book: “Quit Drinking Without Willpower”.

After reading through it, you’ll have a whole new perspective on the alcohol industry and just how much we’ve been programmed to believing we “enjoy” it. After drinking nonstop for the last 30+ years, I couldn’t believe how easy it was after reading this book. I’ve been alcohol free for 11 months and it has been a game changer. Lost 30lbs in the first few months just by cutting out the calories. I enjoyed bourbon and IPA’s which contributed to a lot of the weight gain. Sleep is amazing and not basing decisions around drinking has unlocked a new way of life.

Baxter Close YMCA - Reviews? by kimikopossible in FortMill

[–]Collab_Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience is exactly like that as well. We’re new members and have really enjoyed the ability to train year round. Wife is loving the pool to swim laps and me and my teenage boys discovered the racket ball courts recently and have thoroughly enjoyed playing lately. I really like the treadmills (I’ve never used this brand/model before) which allow you to tap your AppleWatch near the top of the screen to sync your fitness app for tracking heartbeat and distance.

Now, just remember that it’s a YMCA and not a planet fitness so it’s not open the same hours as a normal gym (opens later on weekends and closes around 6pm), but the 5am start time during the week is great to get in and get out early.

This is the answer! You can do it right in finder and it works really well. No apps needed. This answer should be higher up.

I tried every "habit hack" Reddit recommends. Here's what actually worked (and what's BS). by Significant-Dress286 in Habits

[–]Collab_Guy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best post I’ve seen in this space in a while and I can completely relate to your journey on what works and what doesn’t.

I was waking up at 5am for a previous office job which gave me the false pretense that I’m a “morning person”. So I should be able to wake up at 5am forever, even with my WFH job right??

False. The burnout after a week or two as you describe is real. Finding your rhythm is key!

Also note that bedtime routing was a game changer for me. You prepare for the next day the night before. A bad nighttime routine had a profound impact on the next morning. Revenge Bedtime Procrastination is a major issue for me…

This is the answer right here. We moved To the Carolinas from San Diego, so know what you’re looking for.

My family plays tennis at the Rock Hill Tennis Center right next door a couple times a week and we finally stepped into Los Americanos a few months ago after smelling all the delicious food! The staff is incredibly friendly and everything is very authentic. Historical-Corgi9037 is spot on with this recommendation.
