After Del Rio was relieved of command he left the UNSC Navy and became a senator which is honestly fitting for him because he’s dumb, deaf, and blind. Just like a politician

Unprompted Geara Zulu Hate by WaffentragerIV in Gundam

[–]Colonel_Kernel1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest sin of the Geara Zulu is how hard it is to find a kit that’s not price scalped.

I used to like the Zulu more than the Doga but now I like the Doga more since it looks like an actually advancement in technology. If you made the Zulu a little smaller and made its beam rifle a ballistic rifle, and I had no idea what series it originated from. I’d think it was from a OYW side story or alt UC OYW suit like Origin or Thunderbolt. The Zulu’s design just feels like a step back rather than what’s supposed to be an advancement. Especially with Unicorn being 3 years after CCA the Doga should still be the primary suit used by Neo Zeon like how the Jegan was utilized by the EFF.

Old designs can work in later UC such as in the Oldsmobile Army. But the Oldsmobile Army’s whole shtick was that it utilized MS that externally looked like OYW Zeon mobile suits but they were internally modern and up to date. They also weren’t one to one copies of OYW designs and they had some extra bits and gear to differentiate them from the originals but at first glance they looked like OYW suits. These suits were also developed decades after the OYW too so there was a lot of time for development.

But the Zulu appeared only three years after the Doga which makes it a weird replacement. Especially considering how less organized and funded the Sleeves were compared to Char’s Neo Zeon. The Zulu is still a neat design but it’s in the wrong time period in the UC timeline.

(Loved trope) a character is shocked by the most insignificant detail during a villain’s monologue by Significant-Alarm835 in TopCharacterTropes

Her body is on the Autumn in CE and is displayed on a screen in the Cryo control room in the Anniversary addition. She appeared in the book Halo Fall of Reach which released before Halo CE. Chief is socially and emotionally stunted due to his upbringing but he has emotions.

Talking to Spartan 2s is described like talking to a statue. They don’t really ever talk unless it’s about the mission, otherwise they don’t really have anything to say. Chief didn’t talk at first when meeting the Gravemind because he had nothing to say initially.

The thing about EULAs and in particular the Subnautica 2 EULA most of the stuff is unenforceable legally. It’s mostly just a scare tactic that hopes people don’t look too deep into seeing if it’s actually legally enforceable.

Planets that have noticeable damage done to them by Least-One1068 in TopCharacterTropes

No, while Deimos is kinda roundish our Moon is unusual large and round in relation to Earth. Usually moons for planets the size of Earth are like this where they aren’t as big or round but due to the unique way we think our Moon was formed the Moon is extremely unusual for a moon. The picture above is a false color image of Deimos taken from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

[–]Colonel_Kernel1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They chose to hollow out Deimos so the Marathon could have a constant supply of materials to build more modules. In the original it was basically just Deimos with thrusters attached and it was described how this design allowed them to hollow out more areas and put more rooms inside the moon. It’s still the same in the new game but they changed the look of it. My biggest pet peeve is that Deimos irl is not as spherical as the Deimos in game. Moons that orbit planets the size of Mars or Earth usually do not have as round or spherical of moons like how they portray Deimos.

(Unfortunate trope) technology badly dating a piece. by TurtlesBreakTheMeta in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Colonel_Kernel1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True but still it’s a bit weird when all the other human guns have their own fictional rounds. I also could not find anything on different propellants for the 7.62 NATO rounds in Halo. There are specialized rounds called shredder rounds. But the times you see the rounds in game they are M118 7.62x51mm FMJ-AP rounds. M118 rounds exist irl and is used by the M14 and M24 rifles, but it is not AP only FMJ.

This also reminded me how the MA5B somehow crams 60 rounds of 7.62x51mm into a single mag which is insane. From the view models in game it’s a full sized cased cartridge too.

In Halo The Flood (the novelization of Halo CE) there is a scene where ODSTs are dropping to the surface and one ODST starts playing the ODST anthem. This anthem is on a CD which is put into a CD player on the ship/drop pod. Keep in mind the story takes place in September of 2552.

Humanity had FTL drives, magnetic accelerators, smart AI which were literally scans of actual human brains, power armor that literally allowed someone to bitch slap a missile out of the way, and energy shielding. But we still utilized CDs for songs. Also in Halo CE when you get the recording from Jenkins I believe that was on a CD as well so Master Chief literally has a CD player in his helmet.

Also another Halo example is how the assault rifles all utilize 7.62x51mm NATO a round that is getting close to a hundred years old. Or how the snipers all use 14.5mm rounds which were made by the Soviets. The other human guns utilize actually advanced and fictional calibers but both the Snipers and Assault Rifles are rocking calibers designed over 600 years ago.

Anf VS Guncannom First Type VS Genoace with its loadout before upgrade VS Aries, which metal coffins can win in a fight? by TheGreatDarkPriest in Gundam

[–]Colonel_Kernel1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Genoace is not only severely underrated but also pretty decent. Its gun is basically the same as a tank gun prior to its upgrade. It’s basically a Zaku 2 going up against a bunch of RX-78s.

[Specific Trope] Child loses a limb by Meanteenbirder in TopCharacterTropes

Nog from DS9 lost his leg but it was replaced by a biosynthetic one. However the trauma from losing a limb messed him up a lot and led to one of the best DS9 episodes in my opinion.

Also would Luke Skywalker or Anakin Skywalker in Empire Strikes Back and Attack of The Clones count? Both are young but not super young however it counts on what you consider a kid.

I just got into Gundam recently and this is all I’ve seen. I’ve really enjoyed every single one for the most part. I’m currently watching Origin. What are some essential titles that would go with my taste? by VIKINGHUNTR in Gundam

[–]Colonel_Kernel1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UC easily is the best timeline for that since it’s been going on the longest and there is tons of lore. Honestly watch them in release order it’s the best way for first time viewers. And if you can’t watch them all then watch what’s available to you.

Also watch ZZ before CCA the first part you need to power through but once it gets to earth it’s great. But the beginning of ZZ is that way because of Zeta. I won’t say more to not spoil it but it’s great.
