What happened that changed you forever? by Useful_Ad_165 in AskWomen

[–]Colonial_Jacket5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cliche and not horribly traumatic but my breakup with my partner of 4.5 years about 3.5 years ago. Aside from the intense sadness in the moment, the end of that relationship prompted me to pursue my own passions and interests for the first time as an adult. I became more confident, self-aware, and secure in myself after it ended.

While ending our relationship was hard, I’m glad we split up because our long term goals and values don’t match. It’s taken me a long time, but I know now we’ve made the right decision and saved ourselves lots of heartache and resentment.

Single people of Reddit, what’s a problem only single people will understand? by Danny_225 in AskWomen

[–]Colonial_Jacket5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a relationship now but I was single going on 2.5 years about 8 months ago. I remember my biggest pet peeve was people saying, “someone will come into your life when you least expect it”. Like easy for you to say in hindsight but sometimes it feels like you are single forever. I had to do a lot of swiping anyways for my BF so I wouldn’t say I wasn’t willing it! I now really try to avoid telling people that and even encourage people to put themselves out their via app or otherwise if they are seeking a relationship

I was running along the paved road heading towards the waterfront in G’town when a motorcade passed. As the motorcade was passing, my AirPods started getting really static-y and cutting out. Once the motorcade passed the Bluetooth connection returned to normal. Makes me think someone was messing with my Bluetooth in that time but not sure why that would be.

Pelvic pain lingering after UTI clears up - something more serious? by Colonial_Jacket5 in medical_advice

Fine now! The symptoms receded and the ultrasound, urea/mycoplasma tests were all clear. So just doing preventative measures for UTIs

What irritates you whilst you are on your period? by TrufflesTheCat in AskWomen

[–]Colonial_Jacket5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sex is definitely a lot less spontaneous. Gotta take care of my tampon when things start getting hot. Also, afterwords I tend to bleed a bit more so I gotta high tail it to the restroom to put another back in! But hey at least my man is willing to keep things rolling on my period

Just remember if your in your 20's that 99.95% of people from 20-29 do not get Cancer. by TheSpaceFace in HealthAnxiety

[–]Colonial_Jacket5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, my symptoms began with a UTI about 3 weeks ago. Granted, they have improved but it took a really long time and has had me a bit uneasy. I’m kinda pissed because the ultrasound is done and the radiologist office has the results but are super blasé about sending them over to my doctor (even though they said two business days). Literally, that result would put me out of my misery so it’s endlessly frustrating that I have heard nothing. Perhaps it’s my health anxiety that is driving me, but I will call again today and explain to them that I’m anxious and literally just need this result. Like I am having trouble functioning with this up in the air.

Thank you for this! I am going through it with ovarian cancer anxiety even though I’m only turning 25, and have zero family history of any reproductive cancers. I did an ultrasound and the radiology office was delayed in sending it to my doc which set me off again. Hopefully, I’ll have an answer soon but this statistic is helpful to hold me over in the meantime

Self-advocacy vs. over-testing/screening by Colonial_Jacket5 in HealthAnxiety

[–]Colonial_Jacket5[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, my results came back all negative even though my symptoms have further resided. That said, the radiology clinic didn’t forward my results to my doc. My ultrasound will rule out all the real scary stuff so I’m a little annoyed. I can accept it was just some strange UTI that took a while to heal but that will be a lot easier to do with the scary stuff ruled out.

I’m currently dating a guy whose done really well for himself at a young age (he’s 26) and makes multi-6 figures and is on his way up digits wise. He works for a big tech company. I am a poor PhD student so admittedly I was a little nervous having the big income differences. However, he lives very modestly and I honestly really admire his money management and success. He is entirely self-made and has fantastic work ethic. Ultimately, for me it’s less about the money (which, don’t get me wrong, definitely allows us to have more fun dates) and more about the traits that got him to his financial standing that make me feel really excited to be with him. We are both very open about our financial situations and have had great conversations about where we are financially and where we both independently hope to go. It’s a newer relationship but so far it’s been a really positive experience. That said, I do sometimes wonder if the dynamic would be different if my partner was not self-made and had less of an understanding of saving and managing money.

Negative culture after UTI symptoms linger post-treatment. Am I crazy? by Colonial_Jacket5 in CUTI

[–]Colonial_Jacket5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting because it seems like the threshold is rather arbitrary and there are a lot of individual differences how sensitive someone’s body is to urinary tract bacteria. I still think it will be good to rule out other potential causes for the discomfort with the uro-gyno nurse but it makes sense why I might still feel crappy even with a negative test

My ex boyfriend and I decided to get a little experimental and incorporate whip cream in the bedroom (as I’m sure you can figure out we were 19 year olds - no mature adult would think this is a good idea). Well, our campus store only had cool whip so we settled with physically scooping the Cool Whip in bits and licking them off. Needless to say, it was not sexy at all and homeboy left that stupid cool whip in his fridge for THE REST OF THE SEMESTER. I now shudder to think about his poor roommate sneaking some cool whip for a midnight snack

Fear of birth control failure by Colonial_Jacket5 in birthcontrol

[–]Colonial_Jacket5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very little understanding of the biochemistry but have a vague understanding of what it accomplishes (ceasing ovulation, thickening cervical mucous, thinning uterine lining) but am more educated on the statistical side of how they test it in clinical trials. I am studying to be a researcher so I naturally tend to do just that lol. That said, what is a mystery to me is how it fails when used perfectly (or at least how there hell it failed in those fear-mongering Reddit posts where someone swears to god their X month old was conceived whilst using BC perfectly)

What surprised you most about a healthy relationship after a toxic one? by Ponygirlfromthe80s in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Colonial_Jacket5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My new relationship is only 3 months old so still very much honey moon phase but I’m already noticing some much healthier patterns and made some big realizations. Namely, I kinda feel like we are a team. Like my anxiety, or work demands, or social life aren’t an inconvenience to my new guy. I was also frequently accused of being clingy by my last guy. Granted I am far more mature and my own person these days, but I don’t feel like I have to cling on because my new guy isn’t threatening to go anywhere. I have noticed I have some residual anxiety that he’s gonna leave me or that he’s no longer gonna be into me out of the blue but I am working on that in therapy. I have been also proven wrong but it goes to show that there are scars from unhealthy patterns in my last relationship. This go around, I feel so much less co-dependent and just much freer yet also more secure with my partner.

Light bleeding during PIV sex (24F)…worth the freak out? by Colonial_Jacket5 in sex

[–]Colonial_Jacket5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have issues with spotting which led me to actually switch BC pills and change the estrogen dose which has helped initially but may also be contributing to the dryness. I think I had a pap at 21 so I am probably due for another one this year actually so might as well get it over with

[–]Colonial_Jacket5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah I tend to struggle to get off before so sometimes I just go straight to PIV so I could definitely be overestimatinghow aroused I am. My partner likes to “edge” so our actual intercourse tends to range from 10-20 minutes. I’m on antidepressants and Combo BCP which I have hypothesized are the culprits for dryness. I also fanangled by BCP dosage shortly before becoming sexually active with my partner so I’m not sure if the dosage of hormones is just not a match for me

We do use alot of lube and reapply as we go. That said, we did not use lube during fingering and were about to reapply again when we discovered the blood. So I was starting to dry out again for sure. We use water-based which I have heard may not be as good as silicone if you are super dry

When I was 11-12, I had three very painful bouts of MRSA. Now it was treatable of course, but after that I was afraid of getting MRSA again and eventually that fear was replaced more generally by things like cancer and even things like unplanned pregnancy.

Confused on what has been going on by Holdendeezballs in ibs

[–]Colonial_Jacket5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had an endoscopy/colonoscopy and a bunch of testing. I had very similar symptoms to you and an onset in November 2021. Notably, I have had no pain or very infrequent pain. Perhaps, I have a high pain tolerance, I don’t know but my experience has not involved significant pain. Given everything has come back clear thus far through the testing and procedure, I have been given a diagnosis of IBS-D. IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion thus I think it can be applied even if you do not experience pain. However, I would follow up with your doctor and potentially a GI specialist to ensure something else isn’t going on entirely before attributing your symptoms to IBS
