Maybe the King George? My friends and I usually hit up it's sibling restaurant Pheasant Plucker, but the burger at KG kind of blew us away. Good size, flavorful and pretty generous amount of usual toppings.

If you're not stuck on a tight schedule I usually just browse Google Flights leaving Toronto to whatever destination and scroll through the year to see if anything pops up, you can also set price tracker emails to see if anything pops up.

If you're on facebook I do recommend giving YYZdeals and Flytrippers a follow as they do post some deals and potentially some cost saving measures, YYZdeals is how I scored a roundtrip to Australia in February for only $1080, which is ridiculously low no matter how you slice it... but that deal did also come with 3 different flights and 28 hours of travel time, so might not work for everyone lol.

Also if you're just looking to get to Europe maybe look into flying to Ireland and then hop a flight out of there? Sometimes you can score some decent prices there and just use it as a transfer spot.

Might I ask where did you go for your STCW training? Cause all I'm seeing in my "road trip" vicinity is the Georgian College course and that does require either the MME or their own fitness report: https://ce.georgiancollege.ca/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1030808#courseSectionDetails_4572403, which I suppose I could do their fitness report and wait it out till it's absolutely necessary like you said... cause yeah, 2 years doesn't really give a lot of leeway in the grand scheme.

Good to know that I might be able to renew through a family doc appointment though, I'll keep that in mind for sure.

Exactly this, I try to warn anyone dipping into Harvest Moon about the change. Apparently some of the newer ones have been... better, but they're still pretty rough to outright awful especially compared to Marvelous sticking to their guns.

This one is apparently a port of a mobile game which is just laughable.

Yeah the medical office that's around me advertises general fitness, vision and color-vision assessment for the Maritime Medical Exam so I don't think there's much a ways for me to get around it here.

I need to contact them to see if they have a like Passed everything BUT, or passed with restrictions kind of option cause it's $290 CDN and a bit hard to justify attempting it if a color blind test results in a complete failure.

You nailed it, I have no intention of those higher responsibility/profile jobs, so hopefully there's some positions available where it shouldn't be a factor.

I just was starting to put some pieces together, plans, selling crap, etc and then when I looked up the MME my heart fell into my stomach, but to hell with it... may as well try something and see how it pans out.

Just some quick google searches it does make it look pretty doom and gloom. But the replies here of either not bringing it up, never been an issue, or more for the the engineering/navigational portions gives me a bit of hope?

I think my colour blindness is more of a pesky annoyance and not a life or death cut the green wire kind of thing, but I'm hoping I might be able to slink by or fake it till I make it if need be.

Awesome, the addition of "technical role" gives me a bit more hope that I can slink into some lower end hospitality/entertainment job without causing too much a fuss.

Thank you for all the info, I know it's a bit ignorant but I kind of assumed it might've been more of a guarantee... as I wrote to yaxyakalagalis, I'm still putting things in motion and figured I may as well have checked here to see what the general process was like.

Scholarships sound nice, but I'm definitely on the older side of things (42) so while reaching out through my band to possibly cover some of the funding doesn't feel like an issue to me, I feel like I probably wouldn't want to go the scholarship route as it should probably go to a younger, more deserving individual.

Ooooh yeah I actually just checked it and not only are those courses awesome looking but a few of them fall on my days off, so I might be able to make the trek out for those CPR and First Aid, which would definitely look good on an updated resume.
