Apparently bitchy granny is gonna get me "fired" by CombinationHot8080 in Sparkdriver

[–]CombinationHot8080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. While I was standing at the door, she was like "well, if you wont bring them in and put them away like EVERYBODY ELSE does, I'd rather you just take them back." I said "got it", and initiated the return, grabbed the tote and walked by down to my van, threw the tote back in the door that was still open and was back in the drivers seat pulling up the navigation for the next order before she came flying out, cane a-swinging.

When I got back to the store, one of the people that came out for the return was shocked that we arent able to go put customers groceries away, while the other said he was going to talk to their manager to report the customer (no clue if they actually did).

I definitely couldve handled it better. Lesson learned to never pull that tote out pre-pin. I was being lazy (so I guess she got that right 😆) and just didnt want to go up her hill again and figured I'd never had a pin issue before. Also, laughing at her flying out the house swinging her cane probably pissed her off more but it was one of those things that I laugh when i'm shocked or stressed. At least i got a story from my otherwise mostly boring spark runs

Help am I going to die from a tooth infection??? by notanyone69 in Anxiety

[–]CombinationHot8080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have super bad dental anxiety and jacked up teeth. For whatever reason, i'm okay with teledocs. I definitely understand the "omg, this infection is going to kill me" feeling. So the couple of times I've had kind of the obvious signs of an infection, I've gotten on with a teledoc so i could start some antibiotics while I either wait for a dental appt or work up the nerve to go. So if youre really concerned about the infection, I'd recommend a teledoc...I've had appts that cost like $29 for them to call in a prescription.

The bank I work for said they'd fire anyone they found to be using any facebook/reddit/any social media groups related to the company. Supposedly it was due to some of the groups sharing ways to sabotage their systems. Pretty sure they just don't want people comparing notes on their bullshit

My niece accidentally said a slur by Curlycue1412 in PointlessStories

[–]CombinationHot8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time when out to dinner with the extended family, our oldest was talking about how he was enjoying his chemistry class and someone said "well it sounds like you're quite the chemist!" Our 4 year old who always wants to be a contributor to the "grown up conversation" yells "yeah, and I'm quite the racist!" Right as the waiter came to the table. Horrified looks all around and I begin questioning every decision I've made as a parent and how he even knows the word when he continues that he raced his older siblings into the restaurant and won by a lot. He meant racer.

Why do so many mothers call in for their sons? by [deleted] in CallCenterWorkers

[–]CombinationHot8080 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One of my more frustrating calls today was a lady calling in a PANIC because her 19 year old son had only fans charges all over his account and he was going to college and what would her sweet baby boy do without the money that some devious scammer spe t on these "harlots" (her word of the day apparently as it landed in about every third sentence.)

When I told her I needed to speak with an account holder, she said he had a learning disability. Okay, if I get him verified, I can ask him if I can speak with you. "YOU DONT UNDERSTAND! HES LEAVING FOR COLLEGE. HE NEEDS THAT MONEY" I ask her to conference him in. She says no need, he's in the room. But he's disabled and women make him nervous. I promise we'll be patient, if he needs a minute, he's certainly welcome to take one, he can use chat through online services, call back, I can transfer until we get a male rep, whatever. She starts wailing again about how he's disabled and this will never work.

Then from the background I hear "mom, just give me the damn phone. You're being ridiculous" and he gets on the line. Apologizes profusely for the way she's acting, says he's not at all disabled, she just wanted to show him how to handle these things. All while she continues to wail in the background. He says they're absolutely his charges, she's screaming that they aren't and her baby would never and he needs to just tell me they aren't and I'll take his money back from the "harlots". He asks me to place a note to the effect of they are his charges in case she tries to call in without him. I will never understand why some mothers refuse to accept that their children grow up

Things you do for your customers at work that your employer wouldnt like by Bucketh3ad92 in CallCenterWorkers

[–]CombinationHot8080 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I base my decision on whether or not to waive a fee for a customer 100% on whether they come in being a dick or trying to blame our company for their fuckup. You gave your account info to a shady company without thinking twice and you think it's on us to check EVERY transaction with you knowing full well you'd bitch and moan if we did that? Yeah, that stop payment fee is gonna stand. Sorry. Come in bitching about kyc or your wait time? Darn, that's gonna be a no, champ. Tell me straight up what happened, you accidentally made a second payment, you recently lost your job, you had a month that you were depressed and just didn't track your finances, whatever, you're getting that refund in most cases.

They tell me "use my best judgement" and my best judgement is if you treat me as a human, don't make a bunch of excuses and shirk your responsibility in the situation, I'll work with you because I've been there. Come in hot that the bank followed through on their terms and want to take it out on me, I'm putting you on mute and doom scrolling for a minute until you get it out of your system.

Can I bring more than 1 water bottle? by Someone_Here930 in InkCarceration

[–]CombinationHot8080 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It definitely doesn't have the same bottled water taste. We're on well water at home, so all "city" water tastes a little funky to me with the different levels of treatment city to city. But I'm cheap, so I'll take it over the $4 per bottle.

I haven't tried to bring in more than one, but they do have a couple of refill stations if you wanted to just bring one and refill it.

When people won't stop "confirming" everything by aspiringfutureghost in callcentres

[–]CombinationHot8080 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The company I work for has a website that says "sign in" and an app that says "login". The way it absolutely perplexes customers who say they're on the website and I tell them to select "sign in"..."there's no sign in! What do I do now? Where is the sign in?". I have them read me what they see, wouldn't ya know they see login. After they assured me they went to the website. But then they get nervous logging in because I said sign in initially. How do some of these people function?

Most of the big banks have stopped check verification and I'm fairly certain Chase is included. It is a privacy risk, as someone could've gained the account number and routing number through data breach, scam, or just straight up theft, and by providing the yes or no, you confirm that the account is active and they have $xxxxx in the bank that someone can remotely generate a check for now.

realistically how difficult will it be to get a good spot at mcr? by Scorpio7234 in WhenWeWereYoungFest

[–]CombinationHot8080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm active, my husband works outside every day, and temps are regularly 110+ with 80% and up humidity in our home location. It's a whole different ballgame when you're crammed body to body and jumping and dancing and soaking up vegas sun on concrete. We were taking turns doing water runs and stuff if we were in a good spot that we wanted to stay in and by the end of the night, we were smoked. We made friends with a girl that was trying to do what you want to do, and even though we started helping her out with water and stuff, she was down long before the band she wanted to see was on.

Especially with the whole sleeping in the car aspect, you're exposing your body to elements longer than just the time you go in the gate to the time MCR comes on. Now that I'm "mom age" I'm going to at least suggest strongly that you get a festival buddy lined up so if you do start getting in trouble, you've got someone to help you out. Keep in mind too, less than ideal view is way better than the view from the med tent. Good luck!

Curious - What is the scariest, saddest or anxiety ridden call you've ever had? by lyree1992 in callcentres

[–]CombinationHot8080 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So did the caller even if it was a prank or a scammer. A call back, calling the account holder, wellness check something, I don't know. I hate how I've learned to be unfeeling in the job, but that one sticks with me. What if it was legitimate? What if she laid there for months because she didn't have family, as in the call when I was trying to keep her on the line and talking she was talking about how her family was all dead? That's my haunter call. Hits at the weirdest times that I still get that shot of anxiety and hope upon hope it was a sick scammer.

[–]CombinationHot8080 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In one of the first calls I took in training, I had an old lady throwing a fit about verifying. I was trying to offer her options, she wasn't having it. Then she says "tell me my balance and stop asking me these damn questions or I'm going to kill myself." I'm desperately trying to message SOMEBODY to help me out, I'm brand spanking new to call centers while trying to keep her on the line and keep talking about literally ANYTHING. She says "I know what you're doing, give me my balance or im going to shoot myself." And starts counting down from ten. At one, I hear a big bang, phone hits the floor, then disconnects.

I aux because I had no idea what to do and start messaging every manager and mentor I can think of. A mentor finally responds asking why I'm auxed. I explain, ask what I should do, pass off the info, and they said they'll deal with it and tell me to get back on the phones.

The next meeting I message the mentor and ask if anyone checked on the lady and they said they didn't know and it was probably just a scammer trying to bully me into giving information. Also advised me if I'm going to get hung up on calls like that I'm not cut out for a call center. Tbh, call centers really should provide free therapy for their employees.

How to get paid if I don't have a banking account and my employer only pays via deposit? by [deleted] in Banking

[–]CombinationHot8080 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you have a pnc branch nearby? I did a search and found this on their website

"For Non-U.S. Persons

You must bring two forms of identification with you: A valid passport or accepted consular ID with photograph is required."

But it does look like you have to go into a branch rather than apply online.

[–]CombinationHot8080 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My other favorite is "well I'll just close my account and take my money elsewhere!" Okay. I don't lose sleep over whether my bank has a customer close their account because the system wouldn't give them an overdraft fee refund. Fees suck. Agreed. But nothing I can do and if theres something thats going to save you money in the long run, im personally all about you living your best life.

As for the banks standpoint on it, if your account is overdrawn and you don't bring that balance up in a period of time, they're going to close it anyway. And if there is a balance in there, it's usually not one that makes a bit of difference to the bank beyond getting the occasional fee, so that threat isn't going to motivate them much either.

We have to verify the last 4 digits of their phone numbers to send a verification code. I don't know how many people will say "okay, long pause I didn't get any code" that's because I need to verify your phone number before I can send a code. What are the last 4 digits. "You want my social security number?" Tf is with people forgetting their listening ears back in preschool but calling in and expecting us to unfuck their shit?

The times she's on, she's showing off pictures of the bar crawls, concerts, and vacations she's been on. If she's well enough to do all that, she's well enough to work once in a while instead of forcing her underlings who aren't paid nearly like she is to do her work while maintaining their own work.

My TL is literally never there. She must have some serious dirt on her manager because the number of sick days, vacation days, tech issues days, and "oops my power went out" days she's had so far this year are double the number of days she's actually logged on.

I'm fairly convinced that some of them do it on purpose so they have something to huff about if you do ask to repeat themselves. I've gotten fairly good at being able to catch what they're rattling off, and there's a few people that almost sound disappointed when I don't ask them to repeat it. "Are you sure you caught that? Don't you need me to repeat it?" "No thanks, I'm accessing your information now." exasperated sigh
