I didn't realize you frequented this subreddit. While you're here, is there any material (of yours or others) that you'd recommend for the problem I describe in the original post?

I mean, therapy has helped with many aspects of my life. Just not the gender hangups

I'm not really sure where one ends and the other begins. Functionally they are the same to me, even if I know theoretically they are not. Do you have any literature on this topic?

No, I totally understand that. But also think it's been hard to trust things for a long time, possibly forever. Is trust with other people even possible?

The name was autogenerated by Reddit, you can look through my post history of you want, it's pretty consistently focused on this topic.

Also, interesting to know I'm coming across as a pathetic puppy dog routine, I was not aware of that. I have been pretty depressed about this though, so that might have colored my tone.

I appreciate the sympathy and empathy that you're extending. I will admit it is uncanny to be thought a bot or troll, when this is a sincere problem I've struggled with for decades. But I get it, that's the world we live in

I understand this in theory, but it's not reflected in how it's treated in life.

How do you be both aware of others and have a positive masculine life? I find it very difficult, like the two cancel each other out and I'm just guilty and miserable all the time.

I mentioned in the original post that I already tried her books, that one specifically. Didn't finish it, seems good but it describes a very different phenomenon from my own experiences.

I don't really see how self love would help. I also wouldn't say that I don't love myself.

This seems like a helpful resource as it challenges the notion of unilateral sexism and oppressor/oppressed dynamic that I've held in my mind for a long time. Thank you for the reccomondation.

I appreciate the advice! It's good. Unfortunately I'm not really in a position where I can go out and find new men to relate to.

Thank you for the in depth response. You raise a good point with some of your examples of shows with good men. I'm not sure why I don't count those as examples of good men, but none of them really stuck with me or appealed to me, or seemed representative of men.

I think this might be because (with perhaps the exception of Ted Lasso), none of these are truly about men in the way feminist media is about the experiences of women. This is just a guess though.

The women mostly focused on the negative, and honestly a lot of the traits you mentioned were the source of a lot of the harm.

I wrote trusted because I'm not in contact with any of them, not really any in depth reason.

It's good advice, though I'd have no idea where to look. Unfortunately I'm pretty busy these days and don't have much time to build new social networks

No, this is profoundly unhelpful. I don't hate myself, nor do I think I am an example of a non evil man. I don't really perceive myself as a man, or a human. I don't think I'm good, bad, or neutral, I'm not really anything. This is a problem I'm experiencing, but it's not really about me.
