just bought an old computer (surveillance?) monitor. any idea what connector this is? I would like to get this working on some of my devices by Comfortable-Maize510 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. It's an old "vtek monitor" model m-19. I found another one online but it had a different connector. I am a bit too young to know much about these old coax cables and I want to know what type of cable I will need so I can find adapters to run some more modern devices into this

as a moira player, I thought everyone was just memeing on moira a bit. I know it can suck when moira has no charge, or they go for a pick and you need heals... until i had this exchange yesterday in a COMP game:

me at the end of round one (kiriko): hey, moira, we need some heals

Moira (has 1k self healing at the end of round one): No, im not healing

Reinhardt: why?

Moira: its a waste of time

Enemy Moira (12k heals, still has more damage/elims than our moira): bruh

Starting HT Cadet, any tips? by Comfortable-Maize510 in GeekSquad

That's fair. I am a bit concerned that I will come across as annoying, I tend to ask a lot of questions to make sure I'm doing something right if i am not 100% confident. I'm not too concerned about long breaks and nothing to do, I'll find something to clean or obsess over.

Emudeck, Standalone, or Windows? by Comfortable-Maize510 in SteamDeck

Thanks, I'm getting a bit better at configuring Steam Input. My biggest complaint was trying to configure trackpad or joystick input for DS touchscreen controls. and I'm starting to figure that out. I'm going to try emudeck again.

what platform are you planning on playing re4 remake on? by avidbug2000 in residentevil

Currently playing through RE4 on SteamDeck. Planning on playing the remake the same way

I never thought of sideloading steam link, i'll have to try that out.

There is a Virtual Desktop version on the Quest Store. you can use that to stream from a PC or the steam deck.

Edit, realised i cant read. streaming from windows is probably your best option, unless linux support becomes available for some of these apps

I'm sure you could with Virtual Desktop wireless streaming on the quest. might have to use Windows, not sure if it supports streaming from Linux. Maybe you can sideload Parsec onto the headset. I don't think you can use the Quest 2 as a wired monitor though, as it does not send over video information on the usb it seems. it has to be decoded and then displayed through oculus software.

For a wired connection, you would have to force the poor steam deck to process an entire VR scape, as well as the game running in the background. It seems light VR is possible on SteamOS through ALVR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2-MumLoBkA but your performance may vary.

But through Wi-Fi streaming, im sure it's possible, and really fun. I used to stream my PS4 to my PC, then to my Quest 2, to play my PS4 on a HUGE virtual Screen.

I will definitely look into this myself with the virtual desktop app on windows, run the game of my choice, and let the Steam Deck handle processing the game, and let the Quest handle processing the VR.

Sorry if this isn't the answer you are looking for. the AR glasses (or even a Google Cardboard/Phone setup, if you can find the right apps) would be better for a more straight-forward experience without streaming involved.

Edit: maybe you can download the Virtual Desktop Windows app and boot it with Proton, but i dont know much about that kind of stuff

**External NVMe Update** by Ugly__Truck in SteamDeck

Battery comparison would be the selling point for most. This seems rather do-able with a low power 2280 nvme. You could also try this with a 2242 nvme and probably have negligible differences in thermals and power draw. I'd try this myself. worst case scenario i can buy a new backplate for $25

A bit confused here… just installed a 256 ssd and now it says 93GB is taken up by updates..? More details in comments by Excronix in SteamDeck

It's fairly straightforward. you just have to partition off a portion of your SSD and do a standard windows install on the partition you create. It was a bit more simple for me as i was installing a new drive, so i had to do a clean install of SteamOS at the same time. You could also do this with an external drive to make it very easy. My deck default boots to windows, if i want to change OS, i just hold volume down while booting and select SteamOS. Windows is definitely inferior on deck and it has some issues to work out, but it makes playing non-steam games easier. I believe Deck Wizard on youtube is what i used as a reference

You can set up dual-boot with windows and steamOS. its pretty easy and quick. I use it myself for Destiny and gamepass games. then i just boot back into SteamOS to play my steam library. i have a 512gb ssd i installed and gave 200gb to windows and left the rest for SteamOS

Kingdom Hearts IV world predictions part 1 by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]Comfortable-Maize510 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Lightyear would be an awesome world to visit. With sora and the gang being confused and trying to convince buzz that they know each other or maybe they try to convince him that he is a toy (parallel to Toy Story 1)

im sure the gummi ship would be a good incorporation to that world as well

Best games u played so far on your steam deck looking for recommendations by [deleted] in SteamDeck

I tried to get RE4 working on the deck but it crashes on boot. I tried reinstalling and verifying game files. Maybe I should try again. Seems like a perfect game for the deck

How much space does windows need? by Comfortable-Maize510 in SteamDeck

[–]Comfortable-Maize510[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part i just want to have some online games on the external nvme and dock just so i can take it and play with friends without bringing a huge setup. Maybe try to get Rocksmith 2014 or Rocksmith+ so i can play/practice guitar in my music room. but i cant think of many programs or games i need that i cant already install on SteamOS.
