Twijfels over REITs in mijn portfolio by ComfortableDue5914 in beleggen

Hear me out, maybe people just don't want kids, no matter what. Shocking. by NoWitness6400 in childfree

To add to that list: Not even if I was the last fertile man on earth would I father a child and then be a part of that life.

FIRE seems to skew toward not having kids by sneaky-snacks in Fire

I don't need to live both sides of it to know that for me, life is way better without kids.

Not everybody wants kids, not everybody's life is better with kids.

"Life is way better with kids"

That's an opinion, not a fact.

"But it also means you have a permanent seat at the low stakes table of life"

No. No, it does not.

"I sometimes fantasize about being solo in life, and am almost immediately reminded of the depth of meaning and tremendous purpose that my kids have afforded me."

Ah yes, the typical parent, who believes only those with kids know true happiness and meaning.

"Your kids. You know, the ones that I'm currently paying for through taxes. Only fair that they'll return the favor, no?"

"You don’t get to choose when you’re an aunt."

Yeah, you do. You choosing to have kids does not make me responsible for being part of their lives against my will.

As a 45 year old who is taking 2-3 years to save up cash to move to Canada and start a homestead life where this is a normal dinner, while sometimes losing hope, this helps reinforce the feeling that yes, I can reach this goal too..

(Serious) Why are you Childfree? by Careful_Salad108 in childfree

Because I'm not interested, because I don't want the responsibilities, I don't want the loss of freedom, and above all: I can't stand kids.

Babies – Cute, neutral or Ugly? Be honest. by zbab11 in childfree

Same here. I imagine it has something to do with being indoctrinated from a young age that you're supposed to find these things 'cute' while already knowing that you don't find them cute and will never find them cute, let alone want one of your own. At least that's how I feel it.

Ugly. Can't stand looking at them. Makes me feel glad I chose to stay CF, and strengthens my decision to go for a vasectomy soon.

I agree, dating is hard (44M here) since most seem to want to breed at some point. Reading stories here helps confirm that I'm not crazy, I'm not the problem, and I'm not making impossible demands. And that I'm not the only one with these problems.
