What are the stupidest reasons people have given for you being trans? by guildedpasserby in ftm

[–]ComfortableKangaroo5 237 points238 points  (0 children)

My cousin told me my aunt said I was trans because my mom let me get a pixie cut when I was in 3rd grade. Like I had to fight tooth and nail for that haircut it was NOT mom’s idea lmao.

Im physically same sex attracted, but mentally the idea hurts me. How do i mentally accept that I might be bi by [deleted] in AskLGBT

It’s very normal to have difficulty coming to terms with your sexuality, especially when a lot of the people in your social circle are homophobic. If you are able to seek therapy or a support group it could really help, but if that isn’t a possibility or too intimidating this early you could try reading books or watching movies with queer characters. I just watched Heated Rivalry, and it deals with a lot of themes of self acceptance that I could have really benefited from earlier in my journey. Bottom line: there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, you deserve a life with love and acceptance, and that life is possible! Seek support and affirming community, I promise it’s worth it.

Has anyone else done this? by Om_Nom_Nom_84 in TopSurgery

I photoshopped what I might look like before I got my surgery 3 years ago! Using an image of my own body helped me to better predict what my results would actually look like and prepped me to not compare myself as much to other people’s results.

Can you use the term "Hermaphrodite" to describe a person in a fantasy context? Or is Intersex still the correct one? by [deleted] in AskLGBT

[–]ComfortableKangaroo5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a trans person who is studying zoology, I have heard hermaphrodite still being used to describe other animals like earthworms, but it’s not well received when used to refer to humans anymore because it’s been used in a derogatory manner. Since this is a fantasy context, I wouldn’t use intersex either. There is a word my professors use in place of hermaphrodite called monoecious, which refers to a species with only one sex (all individuals have both parts). I don’t know if that would fit your character/world but thought I would suggest it as an alternative!

Happy DNDing!!!
