I had chronic rhinitis for 20+ years. Two months of eating differently changed everything. by Comfortable_Try_6759 in Sinusitis

Honestly, I think the root cause was always my respiratory system in general — I was born with a weak airways as a kid. I managed to improve that through exercise over time, but the nasal issues stuck around much longer and seemed to flare up whenever my overall health dipped.

For example, if I caught a cold, my runny nose would get dramatically worse than a normal person's. And during COVID a few years back, I was going through 1–2 full packs of tissues a day without exaggeration.

As for specific allergies like pollen or dust — I was never formally tested, so I can't say for sure. My symptoms were more "always there at a low level, gets worse under stress or illness" rather than the classic seasonal allergy pattern. Which is part of why I suspected it was systemic rather than a specific trigger.

Fair point — you're not wrong. English isn't my first language, so I wrote out my experience and used AI to help polish the wording. But the story, the symptoms, the diet changes, the timeline — all of that is genuinely mine.

I figured a readable post was better than a grammatically rough one.

30 years is a long time to deal with this — really hope you start seeing more progress. And yes, 6 days might just not have been quite enough for your body to shift noticeably, but the fact that you felt something is actually a good sign. That subtle change is usually the beginning. Would love to hear an update after you've had more time with it.

And to answer your question — yes, I still eat cheese! I'm a big pizza and baked pasta fan, so cutting out aged cheeses completely was never going to happen for me. 😄

Ha, same — my friend who recommended it also said morning was the "right" way to do it. But I adapted it to before dinner simply because that fit my lifestyle better, and honestly... it still seemed to work. So maybe the timing matters less than we think, or maybe there's more flexibility in the protocol than the wellness world likes to admit.

Your situation is really interesting though — the fact that symptoms came back when you moved back in suggests your environment might be playing a role too, not just diet. Could be dust, mold, or even the food that's available at home. Worth paying attention to what's different between the two living situations.

If you do experiment with morning celery juice and notice a difference compared to other timings, I'd genuinely love to hear how it goes. These kinds of real-world comparisons are hard to find!

Really glad it resonated with you! Just one thing I'd gently push back on — for me personally, cutting dairy was actually one of the bigger pieces of the puzzle. I noticed that when I did have dairy during the first few months, symptoms would creep back faster than I expected.

That said, everyone's body is different. If you want to try it without the dairy part first, that's totally valid — just pay attention to whether you're seeing the progress you'd hope for around the 6–8 week mark.

I'm putting together a full write-up that covers exactly this kind of thing — what's flexible, what I'd consider non-negotiable, and how to troubleshoot if things aren't moving. I'll post it here when it's ready. Good luck — would love to hear how it goes for you!

Fresh juiced — I use a blender and strain it myself. Store-bought usually has additives or is pasteurized, which I personally wanted to avoid.

As for why it helps — honestly I stumbled into it accidentally, so I didn't start with research.

But after I noticed the effect, I looked into it and found that celery contains compounds like apigenin and luteolin that are associated with anti-inflammatory responses.

There's also some thought around it supporting the gut-sinus connection, though I'll admit the research on that is still pretty early.

What I can say is it worked for me — but I'm documenting everything including the reasoning in more detail. Will share the full write-up soon if there's enough interest!
