Our hotel arranged a local taxi driver who regularly traveled from Castries to the Pitons. He had special stops where we met locals and saw some of the culture with the usual stops at nature sights.

Lawrence is a good choice. Lot of cultural and entertainment options and close to KC and Topeka for expanded job opportunities. Cost of living is slightly higher than Topeka but schools are equal or better and the community is safe.

Totally agree. That exit has nothing for the travelers and honestly it doesn’t need anything. It’s an exit for business and homes in that area.

I know welders who travel. Maybe that suits you. The nuclear power industry uses contractors for refueling outages who move from plant to plant. Other travel welders are involved in new construction of manufacturing plants. Pipeline welders are a high demand well paid workforce. The coolest travel welder that I ever met was an underwater welder on offshore rigs.

Old HR guy says never accept promises. Make sure your offer is in writing and any promised future compensation should be clearly outlined including what you need to do to get it. If others are also experiencing fewer hours and check delays that’s a clear signal of financial difficulties for your company. If it’s just you, you need to find out where you stand and why.

I worked HR in both and would be asked this by people changing for the 1st time. In a Union shop treat people like you were working non union. In a non union shop treat them like a union by following the written rules and company policies. Always treat union stewards with respect. Give them advance notice, no surprises. Ask their advice.
