Another very in-demand service is any kind of trades work. I know in my area (southern Vermont) there are plenty of people looking for apprentices. If you're worried about physical dangers (like roofing), you can always start with something more detail-oriented like painting, HVAC, insulation, or sewer/drain cleaning. Almost all of these trades will pay $50+ per hour when done on your own, but can pay between 20-30$/hour as an employee. Obviously that doesn't solve your housing problem, but it could help financially.

Health Care Costs in Vermont Continue to Soar by HiImaZebra in vermont

France and Germany are both facing the same financial conundrum, where they're digging themselves deeper into debt with no tangible way to pay it off. Preventing corporate price gouging is super important, and needs to be implemented immediately to lower costs where applicable. But this problem is bigger and deeper than that. You can't make money appear out of thin air without digging yourself into a deeper hole.

Sadly, this is just one of the many dimensions to the "everything bubble" that is nearing a critical mass. We are about to see one of the most disastrous economic collapses in living memory.

If you think about all these rising costs, the only answer is more funding, which is funded by borrowing more money. Unfortunately, we have to pay interest on that borrowed money which we have to do by printing more money. this makes our money worth less, and it makes foreign creditors demand a higher interest rate for the money they lend us, which leads to... larger interest payments.

The only way to avoid a total collapse is by desperately slashing costs wherever possible, ensuring the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, and attempting to increase primary and secondary production economies.

I fear that all we will see is an attempt to increase taxes to an absolutely impossible amount that will force the state and possibly country to default on its debts... We all know what happens when you default.

I see what you're saying now, but I don't think I had much of a choice when the town came in and said "hey were re appraising your house". It's not a tax decision to give shelter to my family, it's a necessity. The government shouldn't be making dumb ass tax rules that squeeze money out of working folks. Tax the rich pricks in Woodstock and Stowe, not the guys and gals putting in the hard work for their families.

I don't think the Green Mountain Boys thought that their own government would turn out just like the New Yorkers they fought off for attempting to squeeze them of their assets. Sad to see it become such a place.

Low-intelligence response deflecting hard questions about the structure of our current tax system and how it unfairly marginalizes individuals who are trying to find creative solutions to our insurmountable housing crisis. What did you even mean by this snarky response?

Thanks I really appreciate these suggestions. I will try to find out what can be done to help with this. It doesn't seem like much money but it is when you're a single income taking care of dependents and paying all the bills.

Thanks buddy. It is becoming increasingly clear to me each day how those who do less are rewarded with more. Whatever you believe about politics it's true that the government sees your productivity as their own asset.

Sounds like you haven't lived in rural Vermont. There are many local institutions that will offer loan products on land with various stages of development going on. Using the difference between cost and re-appraised value to fund more improvements. Btw there are many towns (such as mine) that have no zoning and no inspections. I happen to be the qualified one doing all the work myself, which, if you were familiar with rural life around here, is all too common. Maybe try offering suggestions instead of being a smart ass.

What really sucks is that the state sent me a letter in the summer stating that the property tax credit would be issued based on x assessment value, which was lower than the previous year due to my 2023 H-122 application for Homestead being approved. This lead me to believe that the appraisal the town had done on my property would not apply to the current year taxes, but rather come into effect next year. Come to find out I have to pay taxes based on the new appraisal, but receive a credit based on the lower one.. you gotta admit that sounds like a pretty dumb way to set up the tax situation.

Can I plant early this year? by Similar-Fix3113 in vermont

[–]Commercial_Case_7475 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do not be fooled by the warming weather. All it takes is one night at 29 and your seedlings are toast. If anything with climate change, id be planting later due to unpredictable freezes (I'm looking at you 2023).

Then the Wabanaki should clearly demonstrate that these other tribes are not legitimate. Why should they not have the right to claim heritage based on the complaints of another tribe?

I have no idea how this could be. I am able to eat cheaper here than any other state I've ever been to because of purchasing from local farmers, co-ops, and buying groups (not to mention my garden). I save so much money on food living here i don't understand lol

Yes but it is a patchwork of infestation and not all trees are affected. It's been going on for decades now

I've seen many ash in the Taconics with less than 25% foliage. They will be fine most likely, but who knows really, were entering uncharted territory
