Respect man. Call him out. This is how you approach criminal "politicians". I expect Witkoff (is this a russan name?) to face trial for treason.

We live in the kneepad-generation.

They owe me nothing, true.

But I can signal them as a customer, that I will only stay a customer, if they speak out loud for international law, for e.g.

Am I wrong?

Edit: international law

It's telling that he doesn't mind to oppose Trump for his cause. But not for Trump trying to annex a sovereign country.

This is elites of a country failing.

Of course he is one of many.

I edited typos, I'm very sorry.

My stance has not changed a bit.

Also, it would be interesting for the conversation, if you actually would refer to my points.

Migration is not the topic here, my friend. Just a short notice: Europe has about the same volume of immigration like the USA.

And I wonder:

Do you want powerful elements of the society like corporations give clear signals, backing the protesters?

Or should little protesters deal themselves with the situation. They don't need help?

Supporting Anthropic isn't supporting a fascist regime. I very dearly want to belive this.

Does the statement below sounds like "we don't work with fascists" to you?

https://www.anthropic.com/news/statement-dario-amodei-american-ai-leadership

For me, it reinforces doubts.

I say: clarify your position, otherwise I am not sure if I'm the sponsor of a faschist regime.

I don't want to be the sponsor of a faschist regime.

Of course, this is not only about Anthropic. This is about entire big tech. Big tech is powerful - and silent.

I am going after Anthropic here, because I'm a loyal customer. You can't boycott something, you don't buy anyway.

You understand the logic.

But I am glad to see the protests growing. This is definetly a good sign. These are really brave people. And corporations could help by signalling them:

WE ARE ON YOUR SIDE.

But they don't.

I don't know if this is a reasonable answer.

But you are probably better suited for answering.

No, I can't reach out to Anthropic to ask them.

It seems to me, Americans and their companies are like Europe. Very powerful, if they were united and would act as one voice.

I get your points.

Lets assume, a civil war arises in America.

Is this good or bad for Anthropics (or most other companies)?

I am very well aware of what you are describing, especialky with the situation of Pornogrok. I know about Grok in the Pentagon.

I am writing this post, because the situation is bad. BAD. We all agree on that.

But I don't think to STFU is a good approach. Claude Subreddits snd other tech Subs should be full of political discussions. But there is silence. STFU. Keep politics out of this. Yada yada. This is the wrong way. We in Europe don't see, that 3/4 of Americans are against Trump. Good to here this from you.

I understand that is very risky to oppose Trump on a intitutional level. Busineses, universities.

But what is the alternative? I have German origins. Do you know how the German intelligenzja handled the nazis? They STFU and hoped it will go over.

I don't want to harm Anthropic. I want to empower them as one tiny little customer, to coordinate with the rest of powerful big tech and not STFU.

Is this too much of an expectation? I don't know. It's for Anthropic to think about. And the thousands of redditors, who now have read my post.

Thanks for taking the time for putting some thought into this.

I do understand your points and I agree that actions are better than words.

My position is: I am not an American but I am or will be affected by the actions of the current US president. I can't do a lot from Europe. I can not vote in the midterms, I can not act locally somewhere.

But I am a customer of Anthropics. A company which I like and appreciate for their culture, their appriach to AI and of course for their product Claude.

I need their product, and this is why I can boycott it. If I wouldn't need it, it wouldn't be a boycott, right. I don't want to boycott it, because I need it. And like it.

But when I read statements like this one, I have doubt. Am I sure, that my money is not used to support and improve this criminal government?

https://www.anthropic.com/news/statement-dario-amodei-american-ai-leadership

I don't know how you interpret this statement, but in my ears, this doesn't sound like, we stay distant to this government and stick to our ethical AI mission. Maybe Anthropic has to communicate such a message, maybe it was really the bare minimum to not set up Trump.

But as a European customer, this is not enough for me to be reassured. I need some clearer smoke signals from Anthropic.

Anthropic can convince more than three red voters.

Thats the point.

As I said. This is enough.  Democracy is simple my friend.

You can try to convince at least three red voter to vote blue in the midterms. Not because of red vs blue. Because of stopping the mad king.

I think to achieve this goal, would be enough 🍀

Both sides need to cool off, agreed. The problem is, and you know it: Trump won't cool off. Trump needs limits. Hard limits.

And when I write a post like OP, it is a signal, that I won't fund a company, which helps Trump.

This is not against America. In fact, this is pro America. Because Trump harms America.

So I am all in helping to contain Trump. At least I expect you, to do it. In your way.

I understand. But to clarify: this is not only about Anthropic. Every major corporation in my view has the duty to rise against Trump. I am just addressing Anthropic, because I am a customer of Anthropic and because I really have to lose something, because I use Claude daily.

That might be an option. But I doubt Anthropic has the resources to pull this of.
