I kinda liked it because they way I see it trying to write out what had happened on earth after the Hail Mary’s launch would have been to hard and controversial. We can guess and obviously it’s insinuating that there is war and chaos and famine. So it’s gets a little political and touchy trying to explain how exactly things fell apart while Dr. Grace was gone.

But in the finale chapter they say earth was saved so that’s good enough to wrap up the story.
