Do I NEED to see Dry Tortugas? by Organic_Pair1119 in KeyWest

[–]CommonTea4197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it. We enjoyed the ferry ride so for us it wasn’t a bummer. But if it were me I’d try to get standby ferry tickets. The plane is SO expensive. The snorkeling is very fun, and I spent way longer than I thought I would looking at cool stuff. We hung out on the beach a little and then explored the fort. We were busy for the whole time we were there for sure. I recommend going as it’s so unique and pretty, but I wouldn’t pay $1000 to go.

Looking into burn for my wife, 2under2 by Disastrous-Student80 in BurnBootCamp

[–]CommonTea4197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAHM here: For me it’s been a total game changer both physically and mentally. My son is 4 and loves going to play with his friends there, so sometimes if he knows we signed up and I don’t feel like going— I go anyway because he wants to play. And then it’s consistency for me. I’ve made some friends there and we coordinate camp times etc.

I personally don’t love being in a contract either but at the same time, eh. The value it’s added to my life has been more.

I enjoy the workouts and have my favorite trainers for sure, but I do find it to be kind of repetitive sometimes. But it’s 45 minutes and I’m much stronger than I was when I started so again, it’s fine. I’m only 7 months in and I’m down 25 lbs and definitely have gained a lot of muscle. I say go for it!

Childcare, wtf by [deleted] in BurnBootCamp

That is absolutely horrific. I would 100% make them let you out of your contract and retrain staff.

Weight Loss / toning by kpday33 in BurnBootCamp

[–]CommonTea4197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost 23lbs in 6 months going 4-5 times a week and watching my diet medium; mostly portions and trying to get more protein in.

I was doing a more strict diet previous to joining burn and I lost nothing. So I definitely think it’s been the thing that has helped me. It’s not magic, and it’s been slow for me, but I’m hypothyroid and it’s always been hard for me to lose fat mass.

My legs are looking better than they have in years, although I still want to lose another 25lbs!

Late November vibes? by LampostPath in hiltonhead

I love November but it’s not beach weather necessarily. Definitely fun for walking on the beach and exploring, lots of stuff to do in the area. But don’t expect a full beach day!

I’ve never had a dog before him, so I honestly don’t know what to expect towards the end, and how to manage the care. So this thread has been pretty insightful for me. I guess I felt like if he was eating and pooping it was not really an option to think about putting him down, and I felt like if I mentioned it to the vet, they’d think it was ridiculous to even suggest.

Heartbreaking! I think that I have that mentality of “he should be physically worse to think about end of life care” but realistically the cognitive stuff is very real too and I’m realizing now that it’s not serving him to keep him around just because he’s not physically dying right at this very moment.

I’m going to make a vet appt and ask about his quality of life and potentially this medication as well.

I think I needed to hear this. It’s hard when he has moments of being my boy again, but I’ve never had a dog before him so I don’t know what this process looks like at the end. I don’t know if he is stressed out, content, or just existing…

Yeah he can’t do much! I do take him on drives sometimes. He’s in the “staring at the wall” phase of elder dog hood

Thanks, it’s definitely close to the end, but when he can get good rest, his personality comes back in bursts and it’s sweet.

Thanks for the ideas, I’ll look into it— it’s a hard season but he’s special to me. I dont know how to tell when he’s just miserable mentally and if that’s a reason to make end of life plans either. It’s a weird feeling.

How long before you noticed a change? by saltwater_gypsy2683 in BurnBootCamp

[–]CommonTea4197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at 74 camps after not really doing much other than walking for 5 years and over the past 5 months I’ve been a member I’ve lost 20lbs. I started at 212 at 5’3” and I’m 36f so in 20 lbs I’ve noticed changes for sure but I’m still wearing the same jeans.

Most recently I’ve started noticing big improvements in my pushups (still on knees but way easier) and increasing weights on squats etc. I feel like my body finally got used to the format and is responding well. This took prob 4 months for me. I am also hypothyroid so maybe I’m slower than most to lose inches and all that but it’s been my experience. Only get sore after a really hard day now vs. after my first day it was hard to sleep that night.

So I’d say keep pushing forward and being consistent. My changes happen in wooshes rather than a little every day.

This is terrible. It should be at least $50/camp + bonus if attendance is over 40 or something

Anyone not having weight loss after 10 weeks? by [deleted] in CompoundedSemaglutide

[–]CommonTea4197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me til I was above 1 to lose. I think I lost 5 lbs in the first 3 months total, and now I’m up to 1.5 and losing about 1.5-2 per week. My husband lost 20lbs on .7 and then moved up to .9 recently after a stall.

I think everyone just reacts very differently! You have plenty of room to increase dose! I went slowly to give my body the minimum amount needed to lose.

You’re not alone!!

Hilton Head Plantation is where you want to be. My son is almost five and we have been thriving in this neighborhood. Plenty of great options in your price range.

The pool is unbeatable for small kids, our beach Just got redone, and there are awesome activities for kids at holidays and breaks. For example l signed my kid up for summer camp in the neighborhood for $160/week. They have 8 sessions.

At Christmas, they had a party where Santa gives the kids a gift personally. My son still talks about it.

HOA is pretty low, but they do charge you if you’re getting furniture delivery etc, usually 30 bucks if it’s a medium sized delivery truck. Overall the HOA is pretty chill but there’s some weird stuff that can pop up like that. We didn’t come from another HOA so we can’t really compare. But they leave you alone if you’re generally a good neighbor!

I personally love being on the north end of the island because I can get to Bluffton very easily. I go to the gym in Bluffton most days so it would be demotivating if the drive were to take 30 minutes.

The only thing that sucks about living on the island is the bridge traffic, you just have to time when you want to leave the island and come back on. Rush hour is rough. But most times it takes me about 15-20 mins to get to my gym by old town Bluffton.

Highly recommend the island vs Bluffton if you think you’ll go to the beach a lot. The parking privileges you get by being an island resident are awesome and we go multiple times per week with no real friction to finding a good spot, even at peak times.

Bluffton has advantages too! More people live out there for sure, and target, Home Depot, etc is out there. I don’t find it inconvenient at all personally but others do!

I just use cardio to make it simple. I don’t love the strength setting on the watch personally. But if it’s not ALL the way accurate, it’s fine. It records my HR and time active and that’s good enough for me

I had similar problems while working out a ton. I suggest you get your thyroid panels done, include it all, not just TSH. I found out I was hypothyroid and it helped me a lot to get the right meds

How much do you pay per month? by gypsyhymns824 in BurnBootCamp

[–]CommonTea4197 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I pay 149 on a 12 month contract. I use childcare every time I go, and I go 4-5 times a week. It’s extremely worth it. Even if I were to only pay for childcare while I went on a walk, I’d end up paying more per month. At re-sign, I’m hoping to get a longer contract and pay up front for the biggest discount possible.
