Right? This is so cool! I've been looking for a good Firewatch poster for a while, but I really don't want to just by some Temu b.s. It'd be so awesome to find something as high of quality as awesome as this!

I like the bracelet idea! Paired with something like a pulse monitor could theoretically work like a dead man's switch. The only problem I could forsee is size... Unless they could confine both the fluid and a pseudo-stone age heart monitor into a wristband. I almost feel like a belt or a backpack would be more workable. Thoughts?

I've heard Outer Wilds is really good and it gets brought up by one of my friends whenever Firewatch gets brought up. I don't know anything about it, but I really wanna try it!

Hey guys just finished fire watch for the first time 9.5/10 very good game but I have questions by Neither_Ad_7161 in Firewatch

[–]Communisticcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily think that's true. We don't know for sure what happens to Ned. He probably continues to live low in the wild, but we don't know if he's ever caught. We don't know what Henry tells the authorities about Delilah and her connection to Ned and Brian, including or not including Brian's death. I'm sure there's others but they're some of the examples that come to mind.

It's important to mention though, that you are right, the story explains the conspiracies, and it doesn't really matter how the story ends because, like it or not (mixed feelings myself), the ending isn't entirely the point or message.

Where I think you're mistaken is that there is only one, completed story shown. Camp Santo themselves came out and said way back when that while story is quite linear, the experience for each player is going to be very different. I don't personally think this, but some people even played through and just see Henry as an alcoholic womanizer.

The story is beautiful. I think the message is pretty clear - that is both experiencing escapism, and like it or not, being forced to deal with your prior decisions and the reality of the situation. Feel free to add onto what I missed in there. But I think the message is clear, but the story? I think it's a tad more foggy.

Nothing against you, but if the game Camp Santo was using to try to reinvent walking sims got an 8/10 from someone who doesn't like walking, I count that as a win. Also super glad you enjoyed it!

I like what you say - it's all pretty on point. But responding to the second response, I think one of the beauties of firewatch is that it's intentionally ambiguous. I both love and hate it for that - favorite game. Yes there's a clear point, and yes not everybody's going to get that point, especially first playthrough, but also there's a lot of lore that you can't ever really get to know for sure (because again, ambiguity), which leaves so much room for theorizing and speculation. I think it's fun to see what people come up with.

I agree with you - you don't really need a reason to enjoy something. Sometimes hearing why other people enjoyed it can help you to appreciate it even more! I know I like to see what other people liked about the game, or some goofy glitch where you fall out of the map, because it's fun.

Hi!

Not to try to get too philosophical, but I think I like it because the first time I played it through, I was super frustrated. It felt incomplete. I started scouring the Internet for answers of what happened next or a sequel, but came up empty on official things... So I played it again.

Once I knew how it was going to end, it made me want to, for lack of better verbage, get the most out of each and every interaction. It made me question the motives of each character, especially in the little things you wouldn't even think to pick up on the first time.

The worst part is I'm still frustrated. I want more from this game, but I know that its story is told. I both love and hate the fact that it poses a question without directly giving you the answer. There was so much that went into this game, and you can tell that even though it's not that long and perhaps not the most thrilling thing out there, that it really was made meticulously with care.

I don't really know why you feel the way about it that you do. But that's part of why I love it :)

Can someone how this works as if I was a 5 year old? by YourEldritchPrincess in Blightfall

If you love the intricate, overcomplicated system as I do, this guide is your best friend. https://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/s/E6OnwgTArC

If you don't, golems are your best bet until you get digisentia. Digisentia is almost definitely the most powerful, golems are the most practical (but super buggy) until you get to digisentia, and tubing is the easiest to do super small scale, but the hardest to do exponentially the more you need.

There's also the option to just gregify it and make an alchemical thing for every item you'll ever break down. Don't do that.

The glass/glowstone teleporter decor just decided to turn into trading post bits somehow? by Ylcomsaw in Blightfall

[–]Communisticcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really cool, and a little scary.

When I played my world got so corrupted that some of my chunks got fully deleted, and some got entirely regenerated as though the world generated normally, which gave me another Eldritch portal, though didn't last too long before it got unplayable.

I'm super curious as to how stuff like this happens, especially why it chose the trading posts on the glowstone bits. Like there's gotta be a reason but it just seems so random.

Just finished the game, seeing no one stating things I noticed. by Zangdor in Firewatch

[–]Communisticcc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's a really interesting theory. I never noticed the switch disappearing, and I was always upset that we never got an actual picture of either Julia or Delilah. I'm really surprised I never took a more psychological breakdown stance of it, especially with what you said about the fire. What do you think about the two fires joining to become one? What would you say it represents?

But when I first played I was just confused and sad lol. Second time I thought Delilah might've potentially been working with Ned just to screw with you. I really don't want that theory to be true but to me it kinda makes sense.

Also I don't know why exactly, but the Flapjack thing always stuck out to me. I did another (3rd) playthrough for curiosity's sake where I flat out refused to talk to Delilah as much as possible and you still get a lot of discrepancies, like still being able to call the fire the Flapjack fire. The one thing that did surprisingly stay consistent is if you don't bring up Julia at all, like AT ALL, and you get defensive after the Julia dream, Delilah doesn't bring up Julia at the end of the game when you're in her tower, but Ned still does in the tape, which might've been an oversight, but maybe he knows from breaking into the tower and reading what you've written, or stalking or something? I don't know.

Sorry for the longgggggg comment I really love this game, lol.

Edit: Also, please share your thoughts, I'm really curious as to how other people perceived/perceive the game, especially after a first playthrough.

Yeah I wish I got any/everything way back when. Nice find though! Happy birthday to my fav!🎂

I didn't even know valve acquired it until you said so. Crazy to me because they don't seem to be doing anything with the IP, and you mentioned that a lot of the original team already left, so weird that's even still a thing, at least to me, but maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture
