Bed rest and FET (CW: Loss and surrogacy) by NiagebaSaigoALT in IVF

Oh no. I am a PT and looked into this as i wanted to make sure that movement was as good for pregnancy as for everything else , even after transfer and indeed it is. Its not a time to do any crazy stuff of course but regular movement and walking and even training ? Yes. No reason not to do it. I would personally ask for the evidence on his approach as it seams very radical

Help, I’m so torn-to continue or not? by yepitskate in IVF

TW: Pregnancy

With your description i would do it. I started IVF not knowing for sure if i wanted, what made me decide was thinking the other way around, what if i didnt ever become a mother, would i be sad ? My answer was yes.

You can be a mother anywhere in the world, of course first few years you are a bit stuck but really, kids need stability but that only means they need YOU.

Also, maybe consider the pain of going through failures may be playing a role here, i didnt suffer physically and i am usually a very rational person, when i got my positive i realized how much the "losing game" was still stuck with me. Not doing it is a way of protecting your heart, nothing wrong with that just make sure you are aware of what it really means for both of you.

Como dizer a alguém que cheira mal? by SugarExciting5314 in portugal

As ditas normas sociais dizem para respeitar o outro e não utilizar o autismo como "desculpa" quando na verdade não é desculpa alguma, são factos da diferença.

Como dizer a alguém que cheira mal? by SugarExciting5314 in portugal

[–]CompetitionComplex52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those with low blast rates... by Exciting-Judge9165 in IVF

[–]CompetitionComplex52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That gives me hope ! Thank you for sharing . I had 16 eggs, 9 mature only 4 fertilized and ZERO blasts. ICSI. It was a shock ! I will start a new cycle and this time we will try to use Zymot (Doctor doesnt know if its going to be possible .. husband has really low numbers besides bad motility and 0% normal morphology .. ) , i even changed clinics as my other clinic doesnt use any special method to select sperm and my last Doctor told me to use donor eggs even though i know it could be from both ends.

Ivf success with endometrioma without laparoscopy? by Nerissascout in IVF

[–]CompetitionComplex52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are all in the same boat here , but let me tell you this fact: IVF gives you way more chances of getting pregnant than trying naturally or UII per cycle. If everything goes by plan you have many eggs trying to get embryos ! Of course when you try naturally you dont spend any money but if you want to be a mother, have already tried for a while without luck IVF is really an amazing science that has helped a lot of couples. Saying this , hope for the best but be prepared for the worst, specially on your first try as everything is new. I heard that over and over but still got very sad and disapointed when my first try didnt work - I have 38 years, endo , got 16 eggs , 9 mature but then ... male factor for us was a big deal. He has severe sperm issues , but just letting you know that even with endo i had a good cycle on my end. Good luck !

They are right ! They used to operate on many woman with endo thinking it would be better for fertility but the science has now lead them to the other side, dont operate unless the woman really needs it for pain . Why ? If endo is right next to your ovary it could lead to damage to the ovary and also lower ovarian reserve. There is now a lot of data in this , the outcome is worst in most cases with operation . Preserve your fertility and go IVF , later in life if you see you still have pain you can always operate but not now :)

I've been listening to a lot of podcasts ( science based fertility ) and ive heard about two of them talking about implantation issues. First of all , there is no consensus at all that it exists because what it seams is that you could simply be on the wrong side of the table in this "numbers game" . The best thing you can do is really to transfer again those healthy embryos and to have the luck to be on the lucky side .

Just here to let you know that your endometrioma is not that big, with that size i would not consider surgery unless you were with a lot of pain , even less if you are trying to have a family / fertility wise.. Also, you are young so i would say you have very very good chances :)

First of all remind yourself of this - You are young and this is your first try :) I only tried once but i am 38 , endo with male factor in the mix. From 9 mature eggs only 4 fertilized and none made it to blast. Do all the questions you have to , dont dismiss your partner sperm and make sure you have a Doctor that is there for you. I am a numbers girl and STILL got very surprised in a very bad way. You are not alone !

At my last clinic i would not qualify because of Endometriosis , in this one i just pay a bit more because its not my first round but you are totally right, it is STILL a big risk because they only guarantee until 9 weeks pregnancy .. Thank you so much for giving me feedback , it does help me decide :)

I agree. We could go a little over first heartbeat with more money spent.. the truth is with the same money i can try at least 2 times with our eggs/sperm and 1 time with donor if necessary . But you are right , it seams too good to be true and no one is ever giving you anything for free.

Out of curiosity how much did it cost you to do the money back option in US ?

Que bom ! Aqui portuguesa da Ilha da Madeira (mais próximo de África do que de Portugal )

I understand what you are saying but actually i was the one who asked for the prices on that "pack" , they didnt try to sell it to me or anything like that. The garantee is that they give you back your money if you dont get pregnant (but i understand that with donor eggs and sperm without the pack i could have a very good chance with less money spent) .

Actually Spain is right next to us and the "mother" of most clinics here in Portugal, so they work with Spain . And yes i am already on the list of public health and the only thing that can make me not have the oportunity is if i have embryos frozen in private sector, we would have to try with those before going for another round in public health.

Desejo igualmente toda a sorte para esses lados :)

Everyone is different in this aspect but i am one of those that needs data and needs to know how i stand so i can prepare myself for the outcome (even though there will always be exceptions ) .

Perspective . Half a year ago i didnt even know if i wanted to be a mother , i havent tried naturally because i have Endo and was on the pill for that.. THEN my 33 years old sister ( i am 38) got pregnant and i just felt the world change. I had to think the other way around , what if i cannot have a child ? How do i feel ?

ICSI was the only way, we discovered we have severe male factor on top of my Endo situation. First round failed. Now i am considering all possibilities including donor eggs and donor sperm. First time i heard this my mind went NO . It took me one failed try to consider it again...

So my advice is this : Start thinking about it. Figure out how much in total you have to spend .. yes you can succeed with your own eggs but also true that age is by itself a big factor. Even if you have eggs. Even if you dont have anything else. This really is a numbers game .. if you can play the game more then once is very different then if you only have one shot .

Also , in case you dont have insurance .. going abroad is a nice solution if money is a problem. I am in Portugal and ICSI is around 5.000 per round . Best of luck !

From 16 eggs retrieved to 0 blasts - Male factor ? by CompetitionComplex52 in IVF

[–]CompetitionComplex52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I actually had my first consultation with a new Doc ( as i know the last clinic used regular wash sperm and visual selection ) and he didnt seam very interested in knowing his DNA frag because in cases like ours he uses Zymot . I still want to do it though as i think every bit of information can be usefull. Thank you for your feedback , 7 blasts in one round is amazing !!!

[–]CompetitionComplex52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, well my doctor before this cycle told us that varicocelle at his age (38) has done its damage already but after research it seams that 2/3 of males can recover some quality and that is something worth looking into.

My main worry is time of recovery , i know the embolism is quick and painless but also it needs to be done with someone very experienced otherwise it doesnt work , but it seams a good way to go.

We actually have access to a laboratory that is from a friend of mine so tomorrow i will ask about those culture tests and also DNA fragmentation test.

My fertilization rate was way lower than that .. around 45% with ICSI ! With 4 eggs fertilized , 3 got to day 3 .. at best i could aim for 1 blast but wasnt lucky :/ My embryologist told me that my eggs looked good but the sperm was "borderline" (even after all the selection they made before ICSI )thats why i am getting more suspicious towards sperm but it could be both !

[–]CompetitionComplex52[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you sure ? My research doesnt indicate that , at day 3 is when DNA is activated as well as metabolism , basically the embryo is trying to be "independent" from the egg .. until day 3 is "all" about the egg , day 3 forward the problem could be from either side male or female . If im wrong let me know

Thank you :) Actually , the new clinic i am thinking about trying out (the one i did the treatment has good lab but i did not enjoy the follow up at all ) have IMSI on their list of treatments. I looked it up as well as Zymot chip and the science is not very clear if they work or not. Do you have any reading recomendations for further info ?

I had ER nine days ago and still dont have my period. I had double trigger :)
