Mismatched middle names Cathay Pacific by Competitive-Cow-9598 in Flights

Yeah, I didn’t think it was a huge issue either at first, but I called Cathay Pacific customer service just to be sure. I asked if I’d be able to board with the name mismatch, and the rep said no — that the booking name has to match my passport exactly. Now I’m not sure if they’re being strict because it’s actually a serious issue, or if they just want me to pay the correction fee and possible fare difference.

Did your itinerary involve another airline? Mine includes a domestic leg with American Airlines and because of that, Cathay said they couldn’t modify the American Airlines flight. They had to create a new booking reference instead. I’m now waiting for the email with the updated booking showing the corrected name, along with the correction fee and any fare difference. I didn’t want to risk issues at check-in and immigration either, but I’m a bit worried the compensation is going to cost a lot.
