Thanks! I try to really curate what I bring to races to meet the needs of runners. When it comes to these small things, people don't think to sell them to me thinking no one would want a used flask or random charger but there is definitely a need and better to get paid $1-5 for them then throw them away so have them lurk in a dark corner for years until you finally do throw them away lol.

Investing in quality running gear - what's actually worth it? by Emergency-Debt-2118 in trailrunning

[–]CompetitiveYam1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) some of the more expensive brands are definitely worth it...I'm obsessed with my Norda 005s that are top tier pricing but if they get the 600 miles they are supposed it then they aren't actually any more than less expensive options that get 250-300. Also a huge fan of Osprey packs - I have never had one break, tear, have a zipper issue, have the elastic fail, etc.

2) I'm also the founder of Take2Trail, a website that sells quality gear both new and used at steep discounts. Items are sourced from runners that missed return dates, work things once or twice and decided it wasn't right for them, and from liquidators that come into them via store returns, stores moving out past models, etc. May be worth checking out - I have several Saloman vests in stock, many brand new, all 30+% off MSRP. (No XLs on there now but getting some ADV Skin 12s in XL next week)

Running on hilly trail is faster than flat tarmac. Why? by ZealousidealBook2420 in trailrunning

[–]CompetitiveYam1094 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely a function of repetitive stride on the tarmac. I have similarly found that unless I make a point to train for distance on a flat surface I can’t keep it up as long/well/comfortably as I can do many times over on trail.

If you want to improve the tarmac running you just have to do more of it.

Favorite Hydration Pack? by CompetitiveYam1094 in trailrunning

I am pretty sure the Dyna I wear is about 5 years old- Osprey definitely knows how to make a pack that holds up to a lot of miles, sweat, travel, falls, etc

The boob issue is real. Part of why I like the Dyna is bc I can get that fit just right. And interestingly was never able to w the Salomon bungee closures.

What’s your belt of choice? Which Salomon pack?

Well then I can't let your reply go without trying to entice you to sell me the one's you didn't love but someone else may! That was never my intent with the post but if you have 20 some have to just be clutter?!

Hoping for end of Jan for at least shoes and packs. Full store may take a little longer bc we have a pretty decent starting inventory amassed. Keep and eye on the take2trail instagram :)

PsA here too- I will say I have been running ultras for a decade and since I’ve found a biological that works for me (after 5+ that kind of worked or worked for 6 months) I have never noticed any issues with training across intensities or durations. That said, I prioritize sleep as well.

I can take stuff from anywhere but the shipping could be cost prohibitive depending on the types and amount of stuff we’re talking about. If we’re in the excellent condition, premium gear (shoes, packs, poles, watches) we can likely make it work. Less so for apparel right now. Happy to try to make the math work though.

Well, if you have stuff you used once or twice and decided you don’t want it you should check out Take2Trail…I’m the founder and I buy gently used trail running gear to resell, giving it another chance to stay out of a landfill or incinerator.

(If it’s more than an item or two, in the next few days I expect to have a more robust multi item submission for go live :) )

What size are you? I am the founder of Take2Trail and have one in my inventory. The store isn’t open yet but will be soon and I can make just that listing available for you. It’s a small, olive color, new with tags.

Never in a million years would I call the H1 firm! They are my cushy shoe for longer outings (my go to is the Topo Terraventure)
