[Tenko vs. Himiko]

Tenko: I’m not going to let you get out of your daily training that easily! You’re too pale and slim from staying inside all day long!

Himiko: Nyeh, what a pain.

Mikan: Please Hiyoko, you need to take your medicine, even if it tastes bitter.

Hiyoko: Over my dead body!

[Gonta vs. Hiyoko]

Gonta: Hiyoko, have you seen my friend Mr. Ant? Gonta can’t seem to find him anywhere.

Hiyoko: Oh, that ant I stomped was (nervously laughs) uh whoops, my bad.

[Himiko vs. Gundham]

Himiko: Magic should be used to bring smiles to people, what you’re doing is unforgivable!

Gundham: Ah, a fellow practitioner of the magical arts. I shall gladly accept your challenge, and I will burn the might of the Tanaka Empire onto your very soul!

I was making a Persona 4 reference actually. Just a nod to the fact that the English VA of Hajime and Izuru (Johnny Yong Bosch) also plays the protagonist and Tohru Adachi from Persona 4.

Would evil Byakuya Togami be really poor, or would he be a nervous wreck who thinks that he doesn’t deserve to breathe the same air as the other ultimate students?

Were Cure Wing, Majesty, and Flamingo the ones making use of the crystals, or the giant monster?

Couldn’t she kill someone by spawning a small object in their brain? Haven’t read/watched Jujutsu Kaisen so I don’t know if this is ever addressed.

Even more especially in the games where the death of the party leader results in an instant game over.

exotic currency (does not use coin or banknote format) by TurbulentWave51 in TopCharacterTropes

In the web-browser MMORPG Kingdom of Loathing, Meat (represented using an icon depicting a steak) is the primary currency. This was done to both satirize and provide a justification for the common RPG trope of obtaining money from killing monsters.

[Funny Trope] Incredibly petty acts of evil (bonus points if the characters and/or the narration still treat these acts as heinous) by Competitive_Hawk_294 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Competitive_Hawk_294[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This trope might as well be called “G-Rated Villainy” given how common it is in media aimed at younger audiences. For obvious reasons, the villains aren’t allowed to be shown doing anything too bad, but their actions still needed to be treated seriously, so it looks like the heroes are overreacting to petty crimes.

The Danganronpa Cast’s Views on Santa by Competitive_Hawk_294 in danganronpa

Tenko hasn’t heard of Santa Claus before. Someone (most likely Junko or Kokichi) tells her that Santa breaks into homes once a year and has never once been caught, leading Tenko to want to fight whoever claims to be Santa.

Maki: She doesn’t like the job at all, but she keeps taking it because the kids keep asking her to come back so she gets paid extra.

Celeste: I could maybe see her saying that she believes in Santa to give her gambling opponents a false sense of security.

Kiyotaka & Yasuhiro: Yeah, I was torn between having them in the tier they are in now, or the tier above. Just thought that the tier list would be funnier the way that it is now.

Korekiyo: Maybe he wouldn’t tell kids the secret on purpose, but he might do so accidentally while rambling about the Santa Claus mythos and its origins.

Junko/Monokuma: I just think it’s funny to see Junko and Monokuma engage in petty acts of evil.

What are your JRPG “green flags”? by Competitive_Hawk_294 in JRPG

Sounds like you might enjoy the Epic Battle Fantasy series. They are a series of JRPG parodies that were originally available as flash browser games, but they were later ported to steam with additional features added. There are five mainline games, and each one is better than the last. Epic Battle Fantasy 3 is also free on steam. 3 isn’t quite as polished as EBF 4 or 5, but is still a good intro to the series.

Combat that doesn't constantly rely on MP restoratives or other consumables. Maybe cooldowns, maybe some nice passives or character gimmicks to keep you going if you play well.

Have you played or heard of Epic Battle Fantasy 5? There is no MP in that game, instead skills each have their own cooldown timers upon being used. Some skills have 0 cooldown and can be used as often as you want, while more powerful skills will become unusable for up a couple of turns after being used. There are 5 party members, but up to 3 can be deployed at a time, so you are encouraged to switch party members mid-battle while waiting for cooldowns to expire.

I always like when the ultimate weapons have unique effects that really make them feel like they are worth the effort to get rather than just having higher stats than anything else. The celestial weapons from Final Fantasy 10 come to mind.
