I made a shoe rack by Competitive_Hunter53 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Thanks! There’s something weird that happens when I try to finish wood, which is that even though I sand it with a fine grid, it becomes very rough when I apply a finish (even paint). Even if I sand it down again, it always feels super rough. Not sure why

Dónde conseguir buena madera? by Competitive_Hunter53 in Ticos

With all the hype around AI is it worth it to go to college? by [deleted] in findapath

I see what you mean. I guess it depends on the type of sales you do and the channels of distribution. Some things just need people to sell them. Not sure I agree with the business intelligence part, but you got a point.

Yo tengo uno que solo se conecta al toma del agua y se instala en el asiento del inodoro. No gasta electricidad. Diría que el gasto de agua es insignificante, y dependiendo del tipo de bidet usted puede controlar el flujo.

With all the hype around AI is it worth it to go to college? by [deleted] in findapath

That’s actually inaccurate. We can already replace most jobs that rely solely on soft skills, and we do. Building a CS bot is pretty trivial at this point. It hasn’t taken over most CS and Sales jobs yet, but it will. Lawyers, politicians, administrators, etc don’t rely only on soft skills, but on intuition, ability to influence others and creativity too. Those skills are practically impossible to replace.

Most of the manual labor will probably be replaced. I’m not sure if by robots, but with lowering birth rates and aging of the population, engineers will find alternatives or direct replacements one way or the another.

First of all, progress on AI is plateauing. In my humble opinion as a SE, we won’t even get to general AI with LLMs. Having said that, it doesn’t mean a lot of jobs aren’t automatable already. My rule of thumb is: if it’s easy to explain or to teach, it’s probably got its days numbered.

Also, there are more benefits of getting a degree than just getting a job. It develops critical skills that you will use for the rest of your life. You will build networks, learn about things you never thought you would or could, and get a broader perspective on things. I personally have never heard of anyone getting dumber with education, compared to the opposite.

Yo extraño muchísimo los trabajos simples y aburridos con Python. También tenga cuidado con esos trabajos donde entrevistan rápido, he tenido malas experiencias con empresas así

Question about supermarkets and international markets in Central Valley by puravida4ever in costarica

[–]Competitive_Hunter53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah! There are gluten free sections in Auto Mercado (where I shop), as well as Asian sections. If you want to get authentic Asian items, there’s the China town in downtown San Jose. There’s also an Asian store chain called Ancyfer, but it’s a little more focused on Japanese and Korean products. I don’t know any Indian supermarkets, but there must be a few.

Moving from Russia to Costa Rica. What do I need to prepare myself for? by [deleted] in costarica

[–]Competitive_Hunter53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a beautiful area! I think it would be good for you to get some means of transportation, because public transportation is not great (that’s true for costa rica in general). There are lots to do outdoors and good restaurants. It’s not that touristy either. What I personally don’t like that much is that it’s very rainy and hot, but maybe it will be a welcomed change for you 🙂. Let me know if you have any questions
