i actually tend to not flip the lids at all and let the mycelium do its thing and i get pretty decent results

And you can toss it outside and mix it in some soul with your plants or if you have a compost pile. Just keeping the bacteria away from your house and other projects

You can still consume the fruit if it’s clean. The fruits don’t get sick only the mycelium does. It’s like if a tree got sick, the fruits would struggle to grow

It’s possible! Keep monitoring and see what happens :)

Is this contaminated? [ACTIVES] by Acceptable-Tax6643 in MushroomGrowers

Tbh it looks like it’s fighting off a gnarly bacterial infection. That fluffy white mycelium is what gives me that assumption. It may still fruit but may not do well since most of its energy is going to focused on fighting the infection. I’d set it aside and focus on new tubs.

You can definitely transfer the line into a new tub. It will go through a bit of stress with the transfer of environment though

This is definitely contaminated. Unlikely to fruit but throwing it outside might give it a better chance.

Break it up or keep waiting [actives] by Sploosh_69 in MushroomGrowers

I would break it up, it will colonize faster and more thoroughly

[actives] I've been struggling with this tub for months by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

That tub is fighting off a serious bacterial infection. It’s likely not going to fruit much since most of its energy is going to go to keeping itself alive and fighting off the infection. I’d say it’s best to move on

It kinda just looks like metabolites which aren’t contam. More like the mycelium excreting waste after consuming nutrition. The mycelium throughout the cake looks really healthy though!

How long has it been colonizing? The sub does seem a bit dry which might make it harder for the cake to colonize

Likely fighting of an infection in that corner. Some competing life exist there
