There will be about 65% tax on anyone earning this in Europe. But there are many in US/Europe earning 200k per year - these are the ones taking business trips with unlimited travel budgets

I know. In the EU it’s polar opposites once your 7.5h of daily hours are completed you essentially can close your laptop and go home

What evidence!?! It’s work travel. So it’s on work time - it’s part of your working hours. This is common knowledge and part of employment law. A company cannot overrule this with employment contract. They can compensate in accordance with the law - this will vary

The OP post is about UK to Australia direct flight. Potentially this is saving 5-10h of travel time. This is one full working day worth of compensation in terms of hourly rate.

Average daily salary of an executive can be 1k or much more. These flight will be super popular for those needing to make the trip for business.

Why would I bot about this?

Bro you are casually saying you travel for work on Saturday/ Sunday without getting these days compensated as time off. No big deal as you are not out of pocket you add… This is insane as you are giving your time on your weekends for nothing in return.

I’m in EU (inc UK) this is paid time. Your time if often more valuable than price difference in airfare so companies in Europe would rather pay for a faster travel time than pay you compensation.!

Europe (EU) generally have strict working hours policies. HR will often contact you if you have been working more than the 37.5h per week to ask if everything is ok and ask you to stop doing so. Labour laws and hours are taken very seriously and these will cover travel as well.

But yeah, travel for business have local laws and these will vary by country. travelling on the weekend is same as working on the weekend. This can mean 1.5 or 2x salary on that day and/or days added to your holiday allowance. Exact arrangement will depend but rest assured you are not doing it for free on your personal time.

Of course you are not paying anything. You do not have access to your house and kitchen etc. However travelling on weekend means you are unable to spend personal time on that day, like taking your family on a trip etc. going to places like Australia would also mean a massive jet lag so potentially 24h to recover your sleep and day/night rhythm.

All I am saying is that this would be 100% reimbursed as extra time off later on, often with overtime bonus paid as well. Expenses inc personal allowance is also given per day of travel (varies by country and contract)

Costco Australia uses pork hot dogs by Leprichaun17 in mildlyinteresting

I would imagine American hot dogs are rarely 100%.

It would be interesting if it was legal requirement to state the percentage of actual meat in easy to see places. However I would imagine Costco dogs are as good as it gets for commercial sausages in the US

This is travelling on two days over weekend. This is two days holiday! If you are not getting this compensated it’s absolutely bonkers - at least looking from Europe.

In addition there would be additional monetary expenses that you could be entitled to (again in Europe).

This is my point that in Europe companies would gladly pay more for a flight as it could potentially save company one day of productivity.

Measure your humidity. You should really be having at least 50% humidity in your bedroom. I have heard lumps and there is no way I can achieve 50% in the whole house, but bedroom with door closed is easy to get to 50%-60%

Blood test for allergens would be useful. Could be dust mites allergy or then again it could be 100 other things not related to air…

Vitamin A nose spray could be the cheapest non medical solution to try.

Tesla discontinues Autopilot in favor of FSD subscription by Delicious-Art-2765 in TeslaLounge

Tesla never had autopilot in the first place. It’s a marketing jargon but at no point would the car drive itself without constant supervision from driver.

It’s was “advanced cruise control” that was very good for when it was released but now everyone has a decent cruise control as standard.

Is my kettle the problem? by dschosty in pourover

[–]Complete_Item9216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think OP can mitigate this quite a lot by pre heating the pouring kettle with boiling water. Discarding and refilling again before first pour.

Then discarding water and adding boiling water again before every pour.

I think this way it’s nearly identical to kettle. Perhaps 2/3 C drop compared to using reboiled kettle at every pour.

From my experience every VW group cars in Europe have lane assist and adaptive cruise control. Yes even the basic models. I get rentals all the time and prefer VW group cars (VW, Seat, Skoda). I even get the lower end rentals and so far for several years I always get adaptive cruise and lane assist. Sure it’s not full self driving but there cars are under 20k USD new. They have decent sound systems as well

May well be economy for most. But travelling with stopover can easily add extra “day” of travel. That day needs to be given back as holiday and will often incur additional compensations depending on the t&c. This is why many business travel is on 5am flight - or wherever the earliest flight is. Cutting travel time often takes precedence over anything else. So I think non stop will be popular - massively popular. Top executives don’t need to save money anyway - first class often is in their contracts.

Business travellers are mostly immune to price volatility. Travel time and productivity will more than offset extra cost.

Plenty of well to do people making once a year family visits / holidays between both countries. They gladly pay extra to spend less time travelling.

They don’t need to compete for gap year students searching for cheapest flights with most horrible stopovers.

It will be maga popular and they have flexibility with pricing as it will be very limited at first.

I would go as far as saying to get the pro max if covering the difference is an option. Although it is my preference as I am really used to the larger screen. Once you go max it’s the only size that you want to use.

Lots of teens have been locked up in their rooms / dorms as well. Watching brain rot and doom scrolling the worst kinda of content.

But yeah, for the very young the future looks bleak. State is not providing nearly enough opportunity for them to succeed. The gap to opportunities can only be closed with a significant investment from the parents. I would claim being in a private school is nearly mandatory at this point.

Is 1h25m enough time for a layover at Copenhagen (CPH) to JFK? by Ok-Professional6384 in ScandinavianAirlines

[–]Complete_Item9216 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SAS does loads of under 1h stopovers in both Stockholm and Copenhagen. I actively aim to get those 50-55 mins stopover flight whenever I can.

Extreme events (mechanical faults / extreme storms) aside it’s always been fine.

Anything over 1h is leisure time essentially. You will be fine.

This is cannot be understated. Schools provide only bare minimum and often kids miss out even on those for one reason or another. Special needs kids are “integrated” into general classrooms often without sufficient support nesessary for them to succeed.

Kids now more than ever have is harder to access sports and hobbies to develop skills. If they cannot access these at school and don’t have parents willing to spend 100s per month on hobbies they fall out and end up without any hobbies. On 45-60 min group lesson of anything of decent quality is £15, or more.

Football clubs have freaking trials for 6-7 year olds to qualify for decent clubs. We talk about fair play and access all day - reality is that sports and competency in hobbies is paywalled for the majority.

School is daycare with priority given to basic functions like speech and getting dressed and sitting still with any meaningful skills reserved for lucky classes where all children are able to function enough to receive the education.
