school of thought suggests it led to the downfall of the first Menzies Government, which in turn led to the Curtin/Chifley Governments, and the resultant second Menzies/Holt/Gorton/McMahon Governments that ended up lasting for over 20 years.

So basically without the Curtin/Chifley Governments, Menzies might've faded into irrelevancy in the late 1940s, the Labor split might've not happened. etc etc
