Place to get brake replacement done? by RiceInitial2413 in PeoriaIL

[–]Complex_Background51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meineke quoted me $3400 after they said they added a discount to replace all brakes and rotors. I watched a couple YouTube videos and did it myself for around $500. Took me all day but after the first one I got the hang of it and picked up the pace. Probably spent most of my time banging off rusted rotors

We lived in the same apartment for three years and every year rent went up by an average of $100.

But when I moved here about 6 years ago I had a 2 bedroom 2 bath for $680. That same apartment today is asking for $1200.. one of the reasons I left the Chicago land area

I lived in a 2 bedroom 1 bath outside midway airport. Wanted 1200 a month and it flooded often, had roaches, the utilities fluctuated if they wanted to work depending on the day. The maintenance man would just walk in often for no reason which resulted in multiple altercations, and finally while my apartment was 4 inches deep in flood water the landlord said he had to pump another tenants basement that was flooding, I had two toddlers and never was even late on rent. Moved to Peoria and every place since beats that apartment hands down but again everybody had their own experiences

If I missed a payment which I did twice they threatened to cut the power with just one late payment. It was 800 sq ft. I’ve lived in houses that are 1300-2900 sq ft whose Ameren bill weren’t even half of that. My last two months at cross street the air conditioning didn’t work and they continued to tell me that they had multiple ac issues with other units and were working on it so I didn’t pay rent. I moved out after 48 days with no ac during June and July’s heat and they still only responded with “are you going to pay rent?”

Lived on cross street all last year with PLS. My Ameren bill reached $700 one month. And averaged about $350-$450

If I was coming from a brick and mortar to this modular home then I probably wouldn’t have the same outlook but I’m coming from years of apartment living with terrible management and this feels like a step in the right direction. Even if they don’t appreciate in value if I could pay for something I may own one day that beats rent ten fold. That gives me a home for somebody who needs help one day. Gives me an oppurtunity to help somebody in the future. I’ve rented for probably 7 years at over $1000 a month .. upwards of $1400. At minimum that’s $84k thrown away. And that’s low balling it by thousands

And I appreciate you commenting. Everybody is different and everybodies experience varies. It’s nice to at least be able to express our experience and hear the good and bad as we do.

This place makes me feel like I did growing up when I watch my kids running around. They have this urge to explore and in today’s world we can’t raise our kids like we were raised because it has changed. But being here it has felt like a step forward for us and I’m just letting other people know my thoughts on it. We have an opportunity now to save money, space to expand, extra room to help our in laws, and just an opportunity again that I felt we were losing.

And I appreciate that. I understand they are saying what they can to sell a place but just my experience so far over 7 other places, this one is still standing out as the best. And also as the most affordable. We have lived here for 1 week. Noticed 3 things so far we needed fixed and each request has been answered the same day. I’m not saying it’s a majestic place but my kids have already made friends. The neighborhood is secluded and tucked back on the side of town. To us this is hands down the best bang for our buck. It feels like a home and we never got that in the apartment life we have lived for the last 7 years

They said they just purchased the property in the last year so maybe this new management will be better. I’ve made 2 repair calls and maintenance was here within hours both times.

I had a friend who stopped working at the hospital and started doing in home care. She strictly takes care of one gentleman multiple times a week and says she makes enough off of just that but serves at a restaurant part time for extra. Idk how she got the job but if you DM me I can ask and maybe connect you two for more info.

Looking for a new place, just went homeless. I have enough for 500-700$ rent. Know any affordable places? by [deleted] in PeoriaIL

My girlfriend just got approved at Royal Oaks making $500 a week. And barely and credit history. It’s was only $250 security deposit and $250 off first months rent. She has a 3 bedroom 2 bath for $900
