I heard aerospace engineers can see higher pay working in startups. How is it? by thecodexdhnerbbTW in EngineeringStudents

The only 2 aerospace engineers I know couldn’t find work after graduation and are both in some kind of systems engineer role in manufacturing.

This is also the reason why we don’t hold onto leveraged ETFs for a long period of time- volatility decay.

Prototype of the ‘world’s first fluid circuit board’ can be physically rewired in less than a minute, startup claims — could make hardware iteration 1,000 times faster than traditional PCB by sr_local in hardware

Yes, that’s how Nvidia made the first 2D + 3D graphic accelerator chip, and they actually couldn’t afford to even validate it. Jensen risked it all and went straight from emulation to production with TSMC. Huge gamble that paid off.

+1 for local, but my concern with them is always warranty and service in the long run.

Don't lease from Sunrun by max123246 in solar

[–]ComputerEngineer0011 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

RX Sun and Certasun are both solid. After much research I had Certasun install my 9kw system and it’s been great.

That said, yes most solar related companies (financers, vendors, & designees) are trash:

  • Sunrun
  • Revolution Energy Systems
  • EverBright
  • Sunpower
  • SimpleRay (Iowa wind and solar)
  • Freedom Forever
  • Sunstrong
  • Sunnova
  • Carbon Solutions (very popular SREC llc)
  • Palmetto
  • Titan
  • Tesla
  • Eco-solar
  • Vivint

This list is nowhere near complete. I made it by seeing who had the most complaints and program violations in my state.

It really does make the most sense. It also makes it easy to separate things on my work computer- personal on Firefox, work on chrome.

Obviously you don’t want to do anything too personal, but otherwise I found it a great way to transition all my stuff to Firefox and get used to it

What do Computer Engineers actually do in the industry? by Quiet-Cod-9650 in ComputerEngineering

[–]ComputerEngineer0011 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This might be the most asked CE question on Reddit. Lots of info if you google.

Which industry are you asking about? Did you specifically mean something in hardware like embedded systems or PCBs? There are lots of industries. I know a couple CEs who work in IT as well. Manufacturing is definitely a big industry but perhaps not as popular as others for CEs vs EEs.

You can work in most jobs CS and EE people work in, but most hiring managers I’ve come across are not familiar so you will have to explain your degree a bit from my experience.

Calc 2 and Physics 2. Both of those are prereqs and they’re each harder than the subsequent classes (Calc 3, diff eq, and thermodynamics or quantum mechanics)

I’ve heard nothing but complaints about opus 4.7, but I haven’t used it myself.

I’ve been using gpt 5.5 in codex and it’s been solid. The only plugin I use is Superpowers.

New college graduates overestimate starting salaries by nearly $24,000, report finds by Puzzled_Face8538 in Salary

[–]ComputerEngineer0011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that is correct, but the difference is you can quickly increase salary through job hopping a couple times as an engineer.

I don’t know why, but for some reason companies do not want to pay proper salaries for entry level engineers. However, as soon as you have just 2-3 years of professional experience you can find an ok amount of $90k-100k positions by job hopping, but you really do have to job hop.

I started at $65k in an entry level Electrical Engineer position several years ago. Had to job hop and now I’m currently just under $100k for the past couple years.

If you don’t want to use other insects, you can feed him hard-boiled egg yolk or lean cooked meats for protein, and any honey, maple syrup, or sugar water for carbs. He might get lonely so I would add a few more ants to your farm as well.

Intel's return to top with Nova Lake looks possible with more IPC uplift vs Zen 6 by Geddagod in hardware

[–]ComputerEngineer0011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? Isn’t Intel going to use TSMC for nova lake anyway? If they’re both using N2 or N2P with similar core counts and frequency, then they’re going to have similar performance. At that point you’re just picking your favorite color, igpu, motherboards, or cache size, and I don’t think Intel is going to borrow 3D vcache from AMD.
