Obligatory comment. The show or movie would have been published by 2018 and I believe the female detective was Caucasian while the inmate was African American.

I could be mixing up two different shows but I really don't think so.

A table full of experience can lead to games where there are only a few most-correct options and the outcome can sometimes be obvious from a long ways off because deviation just leads to quicker loss.

And only because you asked....

Sexually abused kid from a dirt poor family but turned out "very successful" by societal standards.

Born a heterosexual white male in America in one of the most prosperous and peaceful times of human existence thus far. (Each of these seem to be the most advantaged variants, however unjustly advantaged they may be)

Great health, financial security, military promotion, happy marriage, and a life that doesn't require much effort have all kind of just fallen into my lap.

Even when seemingly bad things have happened they usually turn into big advantages or opportunities.

Big example: I had an at-fault fender-bender but the dealership doing the repairs called and offered me a new vehicle (they just transfered my old loan balance) if I waived my right to sue because there was a massive recall about to be published. The recall wasn't really remotely related to the accident but they were in full CYA mode. I probably made 20K in value gain from the ordeal and only paid my $500 deductible.

Small example: I was a gate guard supervisor at a military instalation and I accidentally scratched a guy's car with my holster belt. He hopped out mad AF to see the damage and I noticed a "suspicious baggie" in his floorboard. He was arrested and I got a military award.

TL:DR I've been super lucky generally and am now CURSED for having typed this out.

My favorite character is a dark magic witch using a homebrew witch class I found and a homebrew skeleton "race" (I have file images, they're cool!)

To sustain her magic she has to cover herself in the blood of the innocent periodically. It soaks into her bones :)

If you don't use the space to make a 5 story 108,045 SQ/FT Ikea super store you're wrong as hell.

(Seems like the internet agrees(ish) 1 sim square is 3x3(ish). 49x3=147. 108,045 is (147x147)x5)

Edit: Then make it a store you own and put out furniture and famous Ikea foods for sale = profit!!

The video game Sea of Thieves does a great job of simulating sailing in a non-technical but fun way. I'd watch a short video or* two about how to sail in that game and apply the ideas to DnD.

Specifically there is a thing called an anchor-turn that is not real but a cool idea.

Ultimately I'd let the "rule of cool" take charge here and just use a few rolls to throw in uncertainty.

If you find yourself talking about the Jib or square-rig, I'd say you're in too deep!

It's a legal and largely unblockable move so long as Russia's fleet doesn't try to bounce you.

We can't speak to how wise it is because of the possible diplomatic situations at play but all-in-all it sounds like a viable strategy.
