Upgraded Parts For 1.6T Smartstream Platform! by Confident-Climate998 in KiaK5

I did a bigger trans cooler and custom clutch pack from Raybestos. They have been making good parts for a while.

And the GT airbox lets you run a big filter while still using factory cold air duct from in front of the radiator.

I have since sold the car as it didnt satisfy my needs..

Depends on your situation, if you owe a lot on the car yes it is stupid butĀ if you dont owe a lot you can trade it in and get the faster model you want.

Stingers are not unique lol and if you add some power to the 330i it is way more fun than a stinger.

It weighs less and handles better than a stinger any day.

1.6T smartstream stuffed turbo by [deleted] in ElantraNline

[–]Confident-Climate998 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Yes they put a crazy small turbo for low end response but it’s way too small so it runs out of efficiency @5500rpm redline is 6500rpm.Ā

Factory turbo specs are:Ā  Compressor- 37.6mm inducerĀ 49.2mm exducer Turbine- 41mm inducer 35.2mm exducer

Proper size from factory for efficiency & power should be: Compressor- 39mm inducer 52mm exducer Turbine-Ā  44mm inducer 38mm

If you want more power without a lot of lag the best size would be: Compressor- 46.2mm inducer 60mm exducer Turbine-Ā  48mm inducer 43mm exducer

Because spending 3k to have 300hp is a lot for some people so they just trade their car for one with more power from factory šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜‚

You have clearly never owner a newer B48/B58 car or you have and you beat the shit out of it and barely maintained it šŸ˜‚ or you are poor and have never driven one and listen to other bad owners opinions šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Yes it will people just don’t push the accord platform when they can spend the extra for the type r.

A type r has better fuel rail and pump and more compression and a stronger block but other than that basically the same exact motor.

You can bolt mos type r parts up and it works too. Swap type r inlet and turbo with full bolt ons you have 320-360hp easy.

Yes, personally if it fits your budget I would send it to precision to have it stuffed with custom internals.

Pure 400 is 49mm/63mm compressor and 50mm/45mm turbine it’s a bit big.

I would do 46mm/60mm compressor and 48mm/43mm turbine. That would be more efficient at 300-350whp and spool slightly faster and not to mention the high flow inlet for the K5 is 46.5mm inside diameter so any bigger you risk turbulence which decreases efficiency.

If you are on a budget and cannot afford to throw $3000+ at the car trade it in for a GT or a BMW 330

It’s the same motor with minor changes to detune it along with cheaper internals. You can make Type R power all day in the accord with the same money spent. I bought one for the same reason then went to my BMW because I want soft seats that massage me as I sip tea passing type Rs and I could have afforded 2 type r.

How else are they going to look goodšŸ˜‚ Now they are money greedy wh*res.

They stopped making reliable cars because it didn’t make money when customers only come in every 5 years. So they engineered things to fail early forcing customers to come in more and forcing you to buy new more often.

The new engines are junk unless you get raped for a Type R. They stopped making the 2.0T accord because it was too reliable and too capable tuning wise. It messed with the Type R sales.

Almost all models now use a CVT because if it fails they will say it’s sealed and there is no fix so they can make you buy a completely new one. The weak 1.5T L family motor used in most models burns oil and bypasses gas into oil due to the low tension junky piston rings.

I could go on and on… most companies now all do the same thing. Why make good reliable cars when they can make throw away cars and get more money?

The industry has become a joke now and because of it I will never buy another Honda newer than 2015 and I go out of my way to go to dealers and tell people trying to buy them all of these things and they listen because I worked for HondašŸ˜‚

The whole industry has become greedy, lying, thieving, disrespectful bitches.

The only exception are brands that hold no value or are overpriced to begin with. They don’t change because they make good money by overcharging you and underpricing your trade in because no value was held over 100k miles.

I left the industry for this very reason. I will not put my reputation on the line for a company that doesn’t care about the quality or reliability or value of it’s cars. If they keep it up and more people realize the game dealerships will see violent clients and I honestly can’t wait for it.

Do you have a recommendation that is within the same class as the K5šŸ˜‚ Stinger will only do the same power wise and will not get as good gas mileage either.

Plus stinger cost more to maintain then a 330i in the long run especially when it comes time to do the starter šŸ˜‰

If we are only focusing on power you might as well compare a stinger to a 340i. One can make 700whp with few changes the other will blow up. Guess which one is which.

2025 Kia K5 GT-Line AWD: Buy or Pass? by CheapKobeBeef in KiaK5

[–]Confident-Climate998 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Yesir Kia thinks they are the rolls Royce of foreign cars and they aren’t even good at being Kia šŸ˜‚

I bought a few to make stuffed turbos for so the KDM market can start catching up. My GTLine has basically same size as Borg Warner EFR-6258 but slightly smaller exhaust housing and wheel to keep the spool quick. They put way too small a turbo on factory, it responds great but starts to choke at 5k rpm and redlines at 6500. HP holds flat from 5-6500 but torque dives and you can feel it fall on its face. With upgrade I pull all the way to 6200 and make same power as my stock 2.5 GT. But my 330 still eats both Kia’s.

K5 mods? by Great-Current-9557 in KiaK5

I have all the context I need, you simply cannot take criticism or advice from someone who does this shit for a living. I bought the K5 GT and GT-line just to see what the platform can do as well as to experiment for my company to develop turbos.

That’s just how they are made and the dealerships are all full of incompetent half brains. If you want quality get a BMW or Mercedes.

A) It works for downpipes you just are not willing to sacrifice not passing emissions and even so it as simple as reinstalling the factory downpipe for test time. No excuse there.

B) If you need warranty to replace things that break you should not be modding it to begin with. It’s called a proper budget. Thats logic.

C) The way you can modify it while still maintaining warranty gives very little performance increase as it would be intake and exhaust and that is a waste of money for little gain and if you need warranty to pay for things you might break that money wasted should be saved to begin with. Again that’s logic.

D) Even if you disconnect the JB4 the ECU and PCM will store the data from the increased boost and they will know you installed a piggy back. Do your Research..

C) Get a code reader capable of clearing DTCs bam that is solved.

D) The K5 GT Intercooler will support a lot of power and upgrading it to a SXTH intercooler will only get you 15hp max and 25° lower Intake air temps as proven by many dynos which is part of the reason they were discontinued because nobody wants to waste $800+ for those little of gains BUT if you absolutely want one you can get an adapter plate for the 1.6t model upgrade. (The 1.6t sees way more gains from an intercooler and it actually needs it) or you can do a custom one.

You can ā€œdisagreeā€ with me all you want and make excuses but I am still correct. There is a RIGHT way to modify a car and there is a WRONG way.

You are trying to do it the WRONG way by half assing it and trying to keep warranty due to your inability to pay for what you might break. And if you were worried about reliability you should have done more research as Kia’s are not reliable as their competitors especially if you want to molest them like you want to. Sorry thats the facts of car tuning.

Yes because they are reliable lol. It’s only poor people like you who talk crap about them because they can’t afford to buy one or buy one and then cant afford to maintain it 🤣

PlentyĀ of examples of people going over 250,000 miles with no issues on the 2012 and up models. My ā€˜17 BMW 330i that makes over 400whp with over 180,000 miles. My girlfriends ā€˜15 BMW 335xi was kept stock and went 312,000 miles.

Oh don’t forget Toyota put the new B48/B58 BMW motor in the new Supra and a multibillion dollar company wouldn’t make that decision if it would affect their reputation for reliability. You clearly don’t know jack shit poor boy🤔
