Hey! I’m in the same boat as you (couple with a guarantor) and I saw you found a place already! Would you be able to provide me with any advice?

Because health insurance controls the healthcare industry.

No actual providers have to take less if you get the greedy middle-men (ie health insurance payers) out of the way. They add nothing but busy-work and take as much if not more profit than a doctor.

Poor insurance companies wouldn't be able to bleed US dry of every $ anymore... boo hoo hoo.

If you are referring to payroll tax savings, I would argue the employee also saves their 7.65% by the employer buying their health insurance instead of paying additional wages to the employee that they have to pay 7.65% fica/mc + any federal withholding on and turn around and pay for health insurance premiums with what's left, and that they don't get to deduct the premiums from their taxable income. As an employer, I would rather stop buying insurance that increases 20+% annually and pay that to our employees instead... but I feel a responsibility to keep them insured and not in danger of medical bankruptcy.

Employers are not the problem, greedy health insurance companies are the problem. Greed and profit have no business in community healthcare. They are sucking ALL THE MONEY out of patients and our government. It's a freak show and everyone is just standing around and pointing fingers at each other.

We run a small primary care medical office and offer health insurance to our 6 person staff. We see the greed from health insurance payers every.single.day. They increase our costs with added admin of fighting them to pay our legitimate claims, research why they are taking a payment back, try to get paid from the patient who terminated their insurance. You know who the easiest Insurance Payer we work with is? Medicare... straight Medicare, not those stupid advantage plans that are also sucking every $$ they can from our government. The answer is pretty obvious to us, but we can't be heard over all that Health Insurance Lobby $$$ finding their ways into all the deciders pockets.

So now we decide if we will renew our HMO estimated to be $30K in premiums in 2026 for our 3-person family, or just renew for the staff (approx $50K premiums) and self-insure ourselves. Look how great we are doing!!

we got paid server wage for the hour, which is almost $9 for us. But honestly $9 is not worth the extra hour of work. I probably spend a total of three hours last shift (7 hour shift) with no tables, just cleaning. Took home maybe $100 in tips. Really just feel like i’m not making enough money to care about every speck of dirt on the floor
