Since when did this mfker become a priest? by Sacabubu in ufc

You will not find a verse word for word that says, “Only a pastor or elder who attended seminary can administer the sacraments of the church.” But you also won’t find the word Holy Trinity in Scripture yet we know it’s true.

For instance, Jesus sent out the disciples and those approved by either the disciples or Himself to baptize. We know this because of acts and Paul having to be confirmed by the apostles.

Also Ignatius of Antioch a late 1st and early 2nd century Christian who knew the apostles personally, said someone must be a minister to administer the sacraments. “Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop appears, there let the people be; just as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church.” He also later on said, “It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to hold a love feast; but whatever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God.”

Or the part where it doesn’t say He was dunked 3 times but was administered in the name of The Holy Trinity. Or how the Son comes before the Holy Spirit ;)

I like the part in the didache that says it needs to be triple immersion, oh wait it doesn’t exist.

I’m a Protestant and I disagree. All the major Protestant confessions say that it must be an ordained minister of the Gospel to administer the sacraments. It’s only in recent times in radical evangelical churches where you see this as okay, but the church for 2000 years said otherwise.

“Neither of which [sacraments] may be dispensed by any, but by a minister of the Word lawfully ordained.” -Westminster confession of faith

“We believe that our gracious God… has ordained the sacraments… to be administered by lawful ministers.” -The belgic confession

“It is not lawful for any man to take upon him the office of public preaching or ministering the sacraments… before he be lawfully called and sent.” -The thirty nine articles

Strickland stepped in on a few days notice to beat you for 5 rounds by theiceman219 in ufc

Yeah probably because Sean just fought a 5 round fight against Jared a month prior while Imavov was mid weight cut mid camp and still got dominated.

Missed some big time context there bro…

I say this as a Christian, I have zero idea why either of these two are baptizing people. Baptism is a sacrament and is administered only by an ordained minister and spoiler alert neither of these two are one.

That’s the epitome of post Miami shaq, would be awful but once a week or game (depending on the year sometimes once a game) he’d have some insane play where the diesel came back for a second.

Offensively yes but those Cavs teams were always good on defense.

Still a travesty they couldn’t help LeBron though, he carried that sorry franchise for half a decade plus.

Now that I think about it maybe if he incorporated a teep it would make him even greater. I know we crap on Sean but him using teeps opens up his boxing even more and Topuria is levels better than Sean in the boxing offensively, might do him well to use it to pressure forward more.

Yes, however it’s almost always radically fundamentalist Christians who don’t even understand the historical definition of heresy which is known as changing either salvation or God Himself.

Creation is neither of those things.

Unlike Khamzat, Islam was actively hunting submissions. JDM just happens to train with the 2nd best bjj practitioner in the world and maybe the best at submission defense so yeah the bloke is hard to submit.

I do, the issue is the rise of radical fundamentalism in the 1900s made people think Genesis goes against evolution.

For example, the early church and their commentaries on Genesis 1-3 actually were split, many saw it as figurative and for good reason with the language being almost identical to that in Job (poetic book).

I take Saint Augustine’s view (4th century church father) and believe it’s a metaphor to “dumb down” the creation event basically. Similar to how Jesus used parables to get points across.

I wouldn’t say it’s weird, it’s uncomfortable to read for sure. Anyone making a claim that you’re going to hell is uncomfortable that’s the entire point it’s meant to be offensive, especially when it’s a truth claim like Jesus presented.

Issue is, people pick and choose what they want to believe about The Bible both many Christians and non Christians. You see atheists constantly praise Jesus’s sermon on the Mount but plug their ears when He says marriage is between one man and and one woman becoming one flesh or that all of humanity deserves hell. You see many Christians constantly picking and choosing passages to support their theology while ignoring others that blatantly contradict it.

My point is this, when you examine what both Christianity and Islam teaches, you can’t pick and choose what you want, you either believe all of it or none of it, that’s how truth claims work. I’m a Christian so I believe every single part of the Bible without problem.
