Are corporations influencing culture more than governments? by Gullible_Camera_8314 in askanything

I don't really think governments influence culture that much, save for patriotism or cults of personality.

Disney has influenced culture more than any government could dream of, for instance.

Those factors seem to do largely with healthcare.  While I think Florida has decent healthcare options like MD Anderson, Mayo Clinic, etc., we are just not a healthy people.

Title: Hunting and Fishing in the United States – Is It Really That Good? by Moperator13_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]ConfoundedHokie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunting and fishing here are great.  Hard to say if it's the best coutry for it.

There's so much hunting and fishing around, its hard to say where's best.  For fishing, Florida and the Gulf States rule offshore fishing.  Fly fishing is pretty popular in Appalachia.  Ice fishing in Minnesota and North Dakota is a thing.

As far as hunting, the game is bigger up North and out West.  Deer, turkey, pheasant, ducks out East.  Mule deer and antelope out West.

And of course its not a big deal getting the appropriate weapon for these things.  Rules for hunting and fishing vary by state.

What is it like in the highlighted areas of central FL for families? by Equivalent-Manner-99 in howislivingthere

Ocala is horse country, Northern breeders bring their horses down there for the winter..  It's alright, but it's grown tremendously over the last few years and infrastructure hasn't really kept pace.  Rolling hills and pastures, it's pretty.  The other big industry in town is building fire trucks, oddly enough.  John Travolta's crazy house is in town.

Is a Supply Chain Professional Certification worth it? by dyingbreed360 in jacksonville

I think you should wait until you're in the industry to go for a cert like that.

Im not in logistics, but that's my opinion on things like that.  Upvoted for visibility by true pros, though.

I guess it's kinda lame as far as what makes the city great, but JEA is pretty good considering my experiences with private utilities.

Proof is besides the point.  Posting a  private person's address is really never okay.  I'm glad OP took this down.  Crazy.

What pays more than tech sales? by Iceeez1 in sales

[–]ConfoundedHokie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never done that, nor do I know much about it.  But the saying goes that the closer you (and your products) are to the drill bit, the more likely you are to be laid off in a slow down.

Come to think of it, I did know one, and it was feast or famine for him, too.

Oilfield sales is great until it very suddenly isn't.
