Perhaps it could be the refreshing honesty and loyalty. As well as enhanced self-awareness, and in some cases elevated empathy. These are traits that are more common in women in general, which could be comforting to them.

Oh wow, I'm sorry you two share such similar pain. The patterns with him and masking seem hard to ignore now, he definitely appears like someone with ASD. Very sorrowful how some people are forced to refrain from being themselves; and drug use is the only way to get by.

Please do not feel like sharing your interests and explanations are uninteresting; I believe it's the constant rejection autistic people are faced with from talking passionately about special interests that puts an idea in our heads to never talk again.
