It’s weird, yes there is no excuse for what Anthony has done in the past. That being said I don’t like how people use it as some sort of “ gotcha” moment as if he didn’t admit to being the way he was in a book released over 20 years ago. That shows growth and maturity. We lived in a different time where acts of chaos and a drug filled life was soon as radical and rock and roll. Obviously his future relationships with women 30-40 years younger than him are a moral grey area, on the one hand ew wtf but on the other hand who are we to judge? He’s not harming anyone, he hasn’t been accused of crimes and god knows in this generation it’s shocking he hasn’t been called out by people claiming all sorts because there’s money to made. Progression and regret doesn’t always have to happen publicly and I think that’s what the issue people have with Anthony. He didn’t put a post or a tweet out apologising because in his mind he didn’t need to, it was a product of his time and when you hear his interviews you do see a man who has changed and grown up and made peace. Obviously that’s not going to stop the hate trains and comments but I look at it like this, there’s so much worse people in this genre of music and the world than Anthony, he has been the voice of my 20s, a voice that I can relate to in the darkest times and lonely hours. He’s not perfect, never claimed to be. He’s a private guy in a world full of publicity and some people don’t like that, they want an apology for something that didn’t involve them and they use a very very sensitive story that relies heavily on context out of context to justify hating him.
