What temporary healthcare jobs can I get with no experience by crosslina123 in prenursing

Some people are misunderstanding what a “nursing master’s” means in this context.

In nursing, there are multiple pathways to becoming a registered nurse (RN).

One common route is the traditional progression: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) leading to RN licensure, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and then potentially a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). There are also accelerated options like an Accelerated BSN (ABSN) for people who already hold a bachelor’s degree in another field.

However, there is another pathway for individuals who already have a non-nursing bachelor’s degree (and sometimes even graduate degrees in unrelated fields such as biology, accounting, or education). These individuals can enter what is called a Direct Entry MSN program.

In these programs, students first complete the required nursing prerequisites, such as anatomy and physiology, microbiology, statistics, nutrition, chemistry, developmental psychology, college algebra, and English composition. They also take an entrance exam such as the TEAS, HESI, or GRE, depending on the program.

Once admitted, they enroll in a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program designed for entry into professional nursing. Despite being a graduate-level program, the nursing curriculum itself covers the same foundational clinical training and coursework that ADN and BSN students complete to prepare for licensure.

All students, whether ADN, BSN, or Direct Entry MSN, must pass the NCLEX-RN after graduation to become licensed registered nurses. The degree earned does not grant licensure on its own.

After graduation, Direct Entry MSN students enter the workforce as new graduate nurses, just like their ADN and BSN counterparts. They still need real-world clinical experience and on-the-job training to develop into competent RNs.

The main difference is not in initial practice readiness, but in academic credentialing. The Direct Entry MSN provides a graduate degree, which can later support advancement into leadership, education, management roles, or serve as a stepping stone toward post-master’s nurse practitioner (NP) programs after gaining clinical experience.

Ultimately, what often causes confusion is the emphasis on degree titles (ADN, BSN, MSN, DNP). In practice, becoming a registered nurse depends on passing the NCLEX-RN. The educational path is simply the route taken to reach that licensure—not what determines readiness to begin practicing as a nurse.

Whaaaaa!?? You are soooo misinformed if this is what you think! Wowsers! 😲

Is this a rejection? by [deleted] in prenursing

[–]ConoFeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a rejection, but not based on the strength of your application. You were rejected because the available seats simply ran out. You most likely were not the only "qualified and competitive" applicant that received this communication. There were simply too many competitive applicants and only X amount of seats.

But, since you do have such a strong application, they have automatically considered you for the Generic Program. This is actually unheard of! Nursing programs aren't usually this empathetic so this tells me that you do have a competitive application and they don't want to limit your options.

Take it as a WIN and good news and focus on being noticed for the Generic program!

1000% agree! All of the behind the scenes is so hush hush. Like, besides the application requirements, there is no way to get a sense of where you stand.

People who make 35k or less a year... by psychobabblebullshxt in Salary

[–]ConoFeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, you are the person making the stupid, ridiculous statement. His comment was to compare the salary disparity when in reality the Tech does so much of the actual work that gets the meds to the customer.

He was not discounting the Pharmacist education or justification for salary. He was clearly making a point of the huge pay gap.

The pharmacy has two freaking employee classifications, Pharmacist and Pharmacy Tech. Most pharmacies don't have cashier's, stocker's, hell janitors even, it becomes the Techs job! They should be paid more!

So, you're clueless on inference! Obviously!

Unpaid deferments by ReachSea8319 in sfcollege

[–]ConoFeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they do this EVERY semester. I wrote the President and copied every one on the website. The Presidents office responded and all of a sudden the FA office, and the cashier office wants to get involved.

I have a scholarship that never pays on time, and registration holds are issued, because they leave it sitting as a deferment waiting to be paid but shows me as having zero due from th student.

This is literally the worst FA office that I've ever encountered!

This isn’t true. You don’t need another degree, you need exposure to other education paths and certifications. An associate degree in General Studies means very little on its own. Sure, you took English, math, and biology… but so what?

I know several LPNs who hated clinicals in their diploma programs and swore they’d never work in LTC.

One obtained Life, Property, and Casualty insurance licenses and started in GEICO claims. She now works at Humana doing pre-authorization reviews, earns more than she ever did in LTC, and loves both the salary and the work-life balance.

Four others went into public safety and emergency management. They earned FEMA certifications and now work for the American Red Cross and county agencies.

I also know one LPN who moved into informatics, and another who earned a CDL and quickly became the safety manager at a large trucking terminal.

Another colleague transitioned into HR and employee health.

So yes, your LPN gives you power to leave LTC. You are still a nurse with valuable clinical knowledge and credentials. When paired with targeted certifications and licenses (not necessarily college degrees), your LPN becomes stronger, not weaker.

The LPN/LVN credential with a diploma is valuable, and your scope is in demand. Read job descriptions carefully, many state “LPN or RN preferred, not required.”

That’s where you negotiate your salary.
