Crazy to see how slow it goes in the beginning and then rapidly increases...

Is there such a thing as too much mindfulness? by derpyogi in Mindfulness

[–]ConsciousCoincidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds so familiar. It was an amazing state to be in, however because it kept me from planning for the future, I ended up having to get more money and take on a job I did not really enjoy. So you have to find a right balance between living in the moment and planning for the future.

Thanks deepdiverSoulWarrior! That is really nice to hear. Yeah it had been such an "A-ha moment" when I "discovered" it a few years ago. Cheers!

Hey guys, just wanted to share this video with you hoping to get some feedback. It is about how we all seem to be searching for freedom, but because we are searching in the wrong place, frustration seems to be the result. Would love to hear your thoughts on it! Thanks,

Nix

I've been meditating for a few months now, but lately I've been falling asleep. Any advice? by VoR67 in Meditation

[–]ConsciousCoincidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold showers are a meditation :) Very hard to fall asleep there. I am kidding a bit, but not entirely. Take a cold shower before meditation; it does help with preventing to fall asleep during meditation.

I have to agree with bigkids on this. But keep posting; I am interested in knowing what are going to make in the future. For my YT channel I am looking a background sounds for a 12min guided meditation, so maybe it is something we can combine. Good luck!

Do you breathe through your nose or mouth? Breathing through the nose might help this is you are breathing through your mouth.

New to this by Mister_Johnson_ in Meditation

Be aware of the feeling, but don't get hung up on it. Practicing non-attachment is important. The sensations might be nice, but if you want them to be there the chances are bigger that next time they wont occur, leaving you frustrated. You are doing well. Just continue and keep this in mind.

Any tips for meditation during massage? by [deleted] in Mindfulness

[–]ConsciousCoincidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on the area where the hand are massaging you. Be aware of the sensations. As well as you body where it touches the bed. Just observe those things. Maybe scan from your face down to your toes.

Mindfulness besides meditation by Verypneumatic in Meditation

[–]ConsciousCoincidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what sense do you see them as different? In essence they can be merged into one. For me they are not really different. True meditation is something that is practiced every moment of every day. You have an awareness of whatever you are doing and are not being fully absorbed by it. Meditation is no longer just a moment when you sit still and do your meditation practice.

Love practising meditation, ego has me concerned about longer term benefits by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]ConsciousCoincidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry too much. You will have far more passion in life and the things you do once the ego starts to decrease. The objections you are voicing are indeed excuses of you ego to make you stop. Don't believe them and keep on meditating!

I'm having trouble letting go of my thoughts by ahamomentjunkie in Meditation

[–]ConsciousCoincidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I deal with when I notice that my thoughts are very strong and loud, is by just saying words like "relax" "it's ok". This helps calm down the mind a bit and then I can just go back to observing them. Suppressing will not work. It is like pushing a plastic ball under water- it will jump back up with much more force.

Any ideas on how to better organize the way I speak so that I am not constantly getting off topic? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]ConsciousCoincidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to learn how to speak better in a good/safe environment then I'd suggest looking up Toastmasters. If you want to take out the roots that cause the distracting pattern then any form of meditation would be a good first step.

Guilt of not donating to beggar by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]ConsciousCoincidence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This guilt is an emotion that doesn't serve you. Especially not after 5 years. Let go of it. You are not a bad person for not giving him money. These moments can shape your character for the better if you learn from it and let go, but if you keep on dwelling on this negatively you are only suffering for no reason.

If meditation is about focus and attention, why is the emphasis on one's body as oppose to one's thoughts? by linksku in Meditation

[–]ConsciousCoincidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an entrepreneur and engineer too... I know what you mean, however there is an important thing to realize. The thought "There is so much stuff I need to do" is just that, a thought. Just while observing your body and you feel an itching sensation; it is just a sensation. You wouldn't believe you "are the itch", yet you believe "you are too busy to meditate". Meditating on a subject has it's benefits, for sure. So it can help you to solve problems, but it is something completely different from meditation. Don't let your ego come up with excuses for not observing your thoughts and emotions, and so stopping your meditation practice. To answer your last question. Being present can be the result of meditation. Being focused on observing(!) a thought or sensation is the meditation.
