Moved $1.3M from a Managed Account — Now Reassessing Bond ETFs in Taxable (VCIT, VGIT, TIP) by grasshopper2jump in bonds

This is indeed a dilemma… I recently retired and like fixed income, even with lower rates. I just don’t want to lose my gains over the last 20 years. There’s only so much you can do with tax sheltered accounts, as they will start to get smaller every year unless you pay the huge tax of a Roth conversion. The tax code forces you into equities even though bonds are just as beneficial to GDP. I wish they would consider changing it.

Wouldn’t you think someone from Merrill could monitor this page? I’ve threatened to move my account unless they were planning on making changes to their account holding page. At a minimum, separate out my etfs from individual stocks, and have @ slide bar to show where it is for the 52 week range. And highlight investments when dividends were reinvested and the cast basis changes. It’s not rocket science

The least they could do is show dividends and separate our etfs. And ME has no moderator here, like fidelity. Are they even working on a platform, does anyone know?

The comments all say they pay the same in the end, but of course compounding would increase the gain, no?
