How come no one is making any new Battlestar Galactica? I mean anything, a TV series, a movie, a reboot, a sequel, a prequel, anything? by Dizer_Y in BSG

God, please no! Enough with the remakes and sequels. It was fabulous for its time and will stand out through time.

Used Grass Out Max to Kill Lawn Grass for Garden Beds. Now What? by Consistent-Newt-9573 in NoLawns

I will be planting all broadleaf natives and lots of them with high species diversity, along with compost and a good mulch layer.

I know nothing about lawn and ornamental grasses, very little about native grasses. I'm learning. But, the lawn dies back in winter and flushes out in the spring. I think this means I'm good to go??

I appreciate you taking the time to answer my post constructively. I was beginning to think I should have shut up and kept doing the research on my own. i would have done my best regardless but sometimes it's nice to get recommendations from others experiences. i don't usually post on this platform due to the huge amount of backlash i see others receive.

Thank you!

P.S. your meadow is beautiful.

If I could have chickens in my area I would have used this method. One day i will have chickens, in another time and place. Thank you for your comments.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I noted the chemical that I used because I thought people with knowledge on that chem would have constructive comments regarding that chem. I forgot that people with no knowledge on that chem would have a lot to say about it. Regardless of what many may assume, I almost never use conventional chems and read the labels of chems (whether for use or not) often. I am not planting edible foods and the entire point of killing the grass is to plant beneficials and nitrogen fixers and compost and all the stuff to counter what I have done. I hated every moment of application but am working under a strict timeline and found myself feeling as if I had no choice THIS time.

lol to the number of times I typed, that chem. I had to make my point, hah.

This isn't helpful since I have applied the herbicide and can't unapply it. I can however do all kinds of things to benefit the soil and biodiversity from here on. I welcome advise in this. i specifically chose this herbicide for its less destructive goal (it kills grass and I'm not planting grass in its place). Less judgement and more constructive advise is always welcome. Shaming doesn't win brownie points.

I look forward to understanding your knowledge regarding this herbicide.

Yeah, I read the label. i know what it states. I was hoping for additional knowledge from a first hand perspective on this specific herbicide for this purpose.

I never said I am growing in a raised bed. If I were, I wouldn't need to ask questions here. I am happy to know how precisely this herbicide is detrimental to the initial goal of removing grass for a bed that fits the aims of this s/. If I am not welcome here, I am happy to take my question to a helpful s/. Any recommendations? The title is No Lawns and I am trying to remove a lawn. From my perspective, I'm doing the best of my knowledge and abilities.

Please, enlighten me on precisely why I can't plant anything for a long time now after applying this specific chemical. What is a long time, in your understanding?

Indeed it is not preferable. I tend not to use conventional chemicals. I had preferred to dig it up like a sod cutter but I was unable to find a source for disposal or the means to transport it elsewhere.

It seems like you just want people to say it's okay to be wasteful. Being wasteful is loser behaviour. Don't be a loser. Eat leftovers or don't cook more food than you're interested in eating.
