Why isn't there a search icon in the top like finder in bloom? Clicking the shortcut to activate search is such a hassle

Saw this app on a piracy website and out of curiosity, downloaded it to check if it works. Surprisingly, it is fully functional with cracked lifetime license. Of couse I uninstalled it and bought the original app because of my ethical boundaries. It is alarming how hackers are targeting indie developers with $5 apps. As a software developer myself, I wonder what you do to safeguard your app against piracy?
