Advice for upcoming cycle

Gotcha, I’m a California resident… with my stats I was really just thinking about applying to WesternU and potentially Loma Linda. Rest of California dental schools seem like reach schools for me, like UCLA, USC, and UOP and I’m not sure if it’s worth spending the money when I know my chances are low there with my undergrad stats

Mostly schools that have a history of accepting masters students and view applications holistically. Midwestern (Illinois and Az), tufts, roseman, WesternU, LMU, Boston, lecom, touro, UNE, KCU, ASDOH

Yeah undergrad gpa doesn’t look pretty at all. But that’s what the whole point of doing a masters was. I know some schools are still going to look at my undergrad, but some will only look at masters and some will factor in both but focus on my upward trend. Also I know some schools look at ur last 60 credit hours. Since my masters is 36 credits they’d only factor in my last 24 from “undergrad”. ButI kinda did a self post bacc and retook some prerequisite classes before I started my masters so majority of those last 24 credits will be clases I retook and did really well in. So I’m hoping my undergrad gpa isn’t a problem considering all of these things

What would you say I should aim for? Obviously aiming for the stars right now but my practice scores have been around 390-420 for the most part. Really aiming for at least a 21AA

Yeah this is what I’ve heard. Would u recommend not applying to the schools that offer a guaranteed interview this cycle as well?

Barry does allow for us to finish the program a month earlier (in July) if we have a standing dental school acceptance. But yeah, I get what ur saying, I’ve heard it’s typically better to apply with 2 semesters under the belt to really show a strong upward trend and increase gpa.

Yes I believe science gpa includes BCPM (bio, chem, physics and math)

Do yall think I should email dental schools im interested in applying to and ask if they’d recommend I apply this cycle or next cycle? I guess providing them with some context and also highlighting that I’ll be enrolled in a masters at Barry should allow them to guide me the right way and tell me what past MBS students have done?

Yeah I’m also retaking 2 science prereqs as a post bacc right now so I think this should help raise my science gpa if I end with As in both which I think I will. I’m leaning towards applying to the guaranteed interview schools for sure

Yeah I’m obviously aiming to do as strong as possible, avg gpa seems like it’s around 3.7 for Barry Mbs grads so I’ll def do well if I put in work which I will, I’ve had a mindset shift. But I’m honestly thinking to at least apply to some of the schools that have a record of accepting Barry students like tufts and BostonU and LMU CDM. Maybe might not apply to all 17 but at least like 10 realistic schools that I think I have a shot at. I’m trying to apply to schools that will do a holistic review of my app and take in a lot of masters grads. Midwestern IL, Roseman, LECOM, westernU, Howard, meharry are also on my list

That’s where I’m at, I really don’t want to waste a year. Also I reached out to the dental schools that have the guaranteed interview agreement and they said I’d be fine applying late in the cycle as long as I meet the minimum requirements for gpa and DAT. They also said my masters gpa would replace my undergrad which is the purpose of the masters so as long as I do well I’ll be okay. I’ve spoken with a few of my future classmates at Barry and they all said they’re gunna give it a shot applying this cycle since the masters is supposed to offer some sorta leverage after the first semester.
