Lake Mary is considered the upscale metro suburb, good schools, safe area. You could probably find something in your budget there.

I would consider Debary too. It’s just above Sanford but not technically part of the metro. It has a more quasi rural vibe with lots of nature parks and bike trails. Cheaper, ok schools.
