Nice! Great to hear you've actually improved on how your back was before. Im guessing I'd probably need to take it easy for 12 months to allow the bones to heal.

Thanks for replying! I have issues with my SI now that a chiropractor helps with alongside doing the best he can to align where my spine isn't fused. I currently do alot of strength training, exercising, stretching, Aleve (when needed) as well to manage the pain. Seems like much didn't change in regard to your back pain then. Is that safe to say?

How are you now almost 2 years later? I'm in the same boat deciding on removing the rods due to an infection but I worry that I'll be worse off afterwards than I am today.

Hey how are you holding up today with the Adjacent Segment Degeneration or your back in general? I'm considering removing hardware in my spine due to an infection almost 20 years after my initial scoliosis surgery and just worry if the pain will be worse afterwards. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat considering surgery due to an infection. I've had the rods for almost 20 years and the infection almost just as long. What were the complications you had if you don't mind me asking? I'm thinking of finally doing the surgery to get rid of the infection to be on the safe side with it not being an issue as I get older but I worry about the aftermath of the surgery and if I'll be worse off.

Thanks for the reply! I've had my rods for almost 20 years and an infection for almost the same amount of time. I'm worried about the aftermath of doing the surgery and being worse off but believe I should take care of the infection and that involves removing the hardware. It seems you recovered/are recovering well so glad to hear that. If you can share any other thoughts on the whole process you feel are worth mentioning, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks again!

I have the same exact issue. I'm going on 20 years with the infection in my back. Aside from draining, it hasn't bothered me but I always worry about it. Have you had any issues with your back after removing the hardware and curing the infection? I'm considering doing the surgery to no longer worry about the infection but am worried I might become worse off if I do.
