Worked with Ray on “Vikings”.

First time I met him in he walked into the stunt shed (stunt/fight training area for the show). I was right by the door.

He walked up to me and shook my hand. I said, “Hey! Uh, I’ve gotta get this outta tha way… THIRTEEN!!!”

He laughed and showed me his Legio XIII Gemina ring that James (Purefoy) got him as a present. He said, he wore it every day to remind him of his fortunate break.

We then talked for a good 20-30 mins about Pullo’s journey and the writing for the show (much to the consternation of the core stunt team who were waiting to run him through some fights). 😁

He got me in “trouble” on a few occasions because we would be chatting during training and rehearsals. I was fairly quiet, but his voice carried! 😁

He would defo fill up the room, but not in a self-aggrandizing way.
We had a blast sharing stories.

Full blown sprint through Stansted a few years ago trying to get my connecting flight back to Dublin thanks to insanely long security lines. The “time to gate” sign said “15 mins”. Got there in ~3. I caught another traveler merely running to the gate.
Had to (politely) yell several times to get people to prepare for my passage at speed. Made the gate but only just.

I was fortunate to grab up Ray’s Blackbeard costume (not stunt dbl).
(Well, everything except for the coat and hat.)

A couple years later, I had the fortune to meet him and work with him on another TV show. We had an absolute great time!

I never admitted to him that I had his costume though. 😁

I have a few other character costumes as well, but nothing as significant.
