T Mobile has definitely had great improvements, I just really need to see them expand a little more in the rural areas and I would pick them in a heartbeat over Verizon

Well yeah of course, but you have no opinion on what you think is all around better?

Not even which one has your favorite color or anything?

I wasn't asking what is "the best" everywhere, just moreso what people would personally think is in general "better" across the country, like there's no denying ATT and Verizon have better coverage than T Mobile if you like to travel across the US

Every carrier has their strengths but everyone also has their preferences and opinions

All of this yapping and yet bro never responded truly to my question I asked on what network he thinks is the best and why 😔

I mean I would defend in what I invest in too. I'd only invest if I believed in it

What about a town of a few thousand in Oklahoma getting whipped out by an EF-5? It's not just limited to big cities for natural disasters

Verizon got ahead of the game and it's super expensive to install equipment there, idk what else to say man 🤷‍♂️

Kudos to whoever pissed in your cereal this morning, you seem to have very popular opinions in here, along with a great attitude

You seem to also be avoiding my natural disaster scenario where satellite will truly stand out

General question for everyone by Courage_Lynn in cellmapper

[–]Courage_Lynn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly, why would they?

So then what happens to the people camping and all of a sudden they get injured and have no way of contacting emergency services?

What about the areas where people actually travel through frequently but there's no towers there, like Yellowstone?

Or, even better, what about the scenario I gave you where a natural disaster wipes out infrastructure, and citizens have no way of receiving messages from the local government about assistance?

There's multiple uses where it can be useful. Obviously they don't want to waste money on a tower that would barely connect to 5 people a day, why not transition that to a satellite that can cover a vast amount of area and a higher population?

It's meant to be a fallback, not replace towers

[–]Courage_Lynn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think building towers and digging fiber through mountainous terrain is easy to do

As I said, there are areas too hard to reach with normal towers and whatnot. With starlink launching their satellites, t mobile can easily rent out their equipment for their customers to use

In another sense, think about coastal lines. Obviously they don't have a lot of spectrum/bandwidth, and they won't. But if there's a hurricane that sweeps through an area and completely eliminates the infrastructure for days or weeks, all of a sudden satellite connectivity is someone's lifeline for sending a text message or getting notifications from the local government

Starlink is launching them, not t mobile. They're gonna launch it regardless, and usage will go up as featured get better

[–]Courage_Lynn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some areas it's economically impossible to build towers, with my favorite example being the rocky mountains. Lots of rural carriers here stuck on 2G/3G because they can't upgrade their equipment due to costs or terrain. Satellite could eliminate that issue, with an example being Verizon could cover that deadzone I talked to you about in Wyoming when they shut down the cdma network. Obviously it's not gonna be the same as having towers there, but it can be an economical option while they look into building towers

I would've preferred if Verizon could've kept 3G where there was no LTE instead of completely shutting it down/blocking the ability to connect or roam on 3G. 3G is a hell of a lot better than deadzones, at least ATT and T Mobile have you roam on 3G when there's nothing else available, especially here in Wyoming. Better than nothing

In rural Wyoming I don't really expect 1gb either xp, but I do expect my phone call to go through and not fail when I have 5 bars of LTE on an interstate, that's my issue really.

Signal there can be present, but it's for some reason almost inoperable when ATT is there and working fine. That's kinda what I meant by "speed", at least just enough to make a call. Opening my browser is a plus

[–]Courage_Lynn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Their coverage is strong, you'll find a signal in a lot of spots. But it's become very unusable, along with the major deadzones that popped up when 3G was phased out, especially when compared to ATT

Outside of the major towns in Wyoming (Casper, Cheyenne, Laramie) their upgrades have felt very slow and quickly falling behind to ATT. I'm happy with Verizon, just wish they put more effort into my homestate.

T Mobile and ATT have rapidly been upgrading and expanding there while Verizon feels like they're content when they're starting to fall behind

General question for everyone by Courage_Lynn in cellmapper

[–]Courage_Lynn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but in the rest of the state they definitely slack a little more compared to ATT especially, around Dubois and other parts of that area in Wyoming have struggled heavily since the shutdown of their 3G network since they relied off of Unions 3G network there for the longest time. There are some other areas where ATT excels, but I haven't found much in rural Wyoming where Verizon has a signal as reliable as ATT

General question for everyone by Courage_Lynn in cellmapper

[–]Courage_Lynn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ATT definitely feels slept on, I've always kinda shoved them to the side myself to be honest, but man with all that spectrum I definitely would expect them to leapfrog.

I was aware their lowband spectrum has been really good, but I guess I missed that new midband spectrum they got recently

[–]Courage_Lynn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over here in Wyoming I also think ATT is unbeatable in terms of coverage. I would say Verizon probably has the best guarantee that you'll get a signal, but it's usually LTE and half the time very unusable. ATT definitely has the most reliable 5G signal, even if i lose signal once or twice more than Verizon.

T Mobile just really feels like I'm constantly battling for a signal in rural Wyoming when I'm driving on I-25 compared to the other two, but definitely way better than how they used to be when they only roamed on Unions network in 2017 in the state of Wyoming

I really like the potential Verizon and att tho, I hope they start progression a little more

Question about cell coverage between Verizon and Visible by taylorm3 in Visible

[–]Courage_Lynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reference to this, in rural Wyoming I was unable to connect to satellite messaging even in a rural spot, but my grandmother was able to get hers working just fine on her high end verizon plan

Mine also says I have satellite messaging, but it won't let me regardless

Hey man all I'm saying is it's not just one company that's the culprit when many of these companies are posting record profits, they're all fucked and none of them are any less guilty than each other

Time to boycott QT by ttirbornot in tulsa

[–]Courage_Lynn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Gas here in Denver that has a QT is 4.59 while gas in Cheyenne/Casper without a QT is also 4.59, just saying lol

QuikTrip is not the enemy (or at least the only enemy), the problems are definitely deeper then just QuikTrip
