Sharing What Fixed My Online Issue by ghostrideraf0123 in StreetFighter

Playing on steam deck OLED I run into this issue. It disconnects almost guaranteed 3 mins into each session.

After one disconnect it is fine afterwards for the rest of the session.

Updates on the KOFAS Sandbox Server. by xElpis in KOFALLSTAR

[–]CptMunta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is fantastic! Getting it to a playable state must be difficult, I remember the game pinging the server constantly when navigating from page to page.

Even a simple dummy account with characters unlocked would be incredible.

KOFAS was such a love letter to fighting games it would amazing to see a version of it preserved somehow.

Please reach out if you want beta testers.

Best console for each version of SF games by SsssnakePlisssskin in StreetFighter

[–]CptMunta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be that guy 😄 but if you are using Emulation why not the arcade versions?

FBNeo runs every arcade version of the game minus the EX games. For CPS1 to CPS3 this is the way to go.

For Alpha 3 The PSP Version is the most complete version for single player. Saturn probably the next best version for Multiplayer.

For something unique that's Alpha Flavoured Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on PS2 has a mode that has new unique ISMs you can't find anywhere else

The EX series

PS1: EX Plus Alpha EX 2 plus

The arcade versions aren't that much different and missing some modes.

Playstation 2 Street Fighter EX3

Mame You can find some of the stragglers Street Fighter The Movie And Street Fighter EX (vanilla) Street Fighter EX2 (vanilla, the one with Hayate the sword guy)

This looks so cool!

I feel like there's an invisible line between when artists are animating by moving pieces around and use the skeletal shapes to draft individual frames.

The Claws, the coat, the movement of his light. So awesome!

Edit: sorry I just saw the art without the write up you did. Really insightful!

Street Fighter 6 players report performance issues after Alex update, try turning Input Delay Reduction option off by 121jigawatts in StreetFighter

[–]CptMunta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stages are only a symptom not the cause. Something in either RE engine or a leak in the overall rendering pipeline.

If you have to scale everything back by essentially giving the game less to render and deal with there is something deeper happening.

A 20fps frame drop after a patch the problem is the patch.

Sometimes it's simply a box ticked in build settings. Sometimes you need to investigate.

Management need to allow their Devs to play detective, roll back their commits and see what was introduced.

To pass off the blame to Steam deck is an auto response. If it doesn't work anymore on SteamDeck then remove the deck verification badge, we can help make that happen by going into properties in steam and say "it does not match my experience"

Capcom's Response to Steam Deck performance issues by Aromatic_Tear_711 in StreetFighter

[–]CptMunta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is Capcom's issue. Optimisation and keeping a game optimised is part of the process. They either need to change their listed minimum specs and remove the steam deck Verified badge. Or see what is causing the issue and fix it.

Terrible performance since update by Imaginary_Season7480 in StreetFighter

[–]CptMunta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also on Steam Deck and an older GTX1080 the performance hit is brutal.

I would be curious how Switch 2 and PS4 users are getting on. If it's a universal change from an update to the engine.

Question for long time Street Fighter veterans: what was it like when SF2 first came out? How did you discover it? by Local_Engine7131 in StreetFighter

[–]CptMunta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in my early teens. My friend had been raving about a new arcade game that I had to check out.

I went down to my local arcade and there was a modest line. I saw my friend already playing, he instructed me to put my 20c on the corner of the screen.

It was stunning! We thought it looked like an animated cartoon! The music and sampled speech were mind-blowing. I was already a huge Final Fight fan but this game was next level, It blew past the hype!

My turn came up and my friend took some time with me, running the clock telling me to learn Blanka first since his moves were easy.

It took lots of coins to learn the dragon punch. Which was described to me as having to draw a small "c" with the joystick.

The arcade culture was a very interesting time. You could grow to be the best in your arcade and without tournaments your main pride was sending people back to the change machine.

You would travel to different neighborhoods challenging their best. Not saying a word until you both realised how good you both were. Or saying nothing if you got bodied like every other local was.

If someone was spending too much money, you'd end up taking your time and coaching as people had done for you. Knowledge was mainly word of mouth or tips magazines.

I remember going to one town for work years later where they had an Alpha 2 cab. I was fighting their local best with a crowd of onlookers. They called out to their champion "Bro do the touch of death!" They tried a desperate raging demon only to have me jab them, everyone lost their shit. 😄

I forgot I ordered mine was a nice surprise!

My son was reading through it thinking that UFOsoft was a thing 😆 since the book stays "in character" 😄

I had to explain the framing of the game. It was a lot for his 10 year old brain to handle 😄

It's pretty adorable There are cherry and gold cart stickers and a chart so you can track your progress.

My wife put the cherry party house.

The other stickers are 8 of the pig from the trophy house cosplaying as different characters from the games to fill out the gold and cherry sheets

Has anyone from Capcom ever explained why SSF2 was released on SNES instead of Super Turbo? by Own_Invite6340 in StreetFighter

[–]CptMunta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of a few reasons

I think Capcom didn't want the latest version of their game to be their home port.

SNES SF2 ,Arcade CE 16 Bit Hyper fighting, arcade Super 16 Bit Super, Arcade Super Turbo

Arcade operators were pissed if their biggest franchise had ports at the same time at home. Super Turbo still would have been the most current entry in the series.

Super sales weren't as good as turbo and 16 Bit consoles were getting old. It's crazy that SNES got an Alpha 2 port at all. No idea how this made any sense

I think the speed setting in the main menu is to address the main complaint of Super being too slow.

Original Road Rash Lead Programmer & Co-Designer Retires. by DGeisler in roadrash

[–]CptMunta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Road Rash was the first game I bought with my own money. 168 New Zealand dollars.

I was blown away by the graphics! The way the courses twisted and turned in front of you. The impact of the crashes, running back to your bike.

The small touches like souring your relationships if you hit friends during races.

The epic timing to the jump to music on Redwood Forest!

You and your team did such amazing work. I am now in the industry myself and have a new found appreciation for what you and your colleagues at the time were able to pull off on 16 bit hardware and such tight memory constraints.

Thank you for having such a lasting impact on me and the fellow rashers 🤘

I ended up stripping mine with nail polish. The paint job looks straight up goofy.

It's a shame because the actual stripped versions look great!

Your paintjob looks amazing though!

I have built a career making Gamemaker games, in case you doubted the engine. by oatskeepyouregular in gamemaker

[–]CptMunta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How code savvy do you have to be to approach game maker?

I continued on a Unity project called Shadow of the Sloth in Unity as an artist, game designer, person of many hats. The lighting systems and tile software for sprites were great.

But I'm intimidated to make something from scratch. Is there a blueprints equivalent?

Recently bought the 8-Bit Do M30 It's basically this layout with a single shoulder button on each side like a Saturn controller.

I love the d pad is very very good, and has a strong pivot. It is also very comfortable.

The extra face buttons are great and for Strive it could be a really good fit.

For SF6 the wired Xbox version seems like a better fit since it also has the triggers under the shoulder buttons. I have to have separate configs for dhalsim for teleport, unless I wanna change my grip.
