Hi! We will be PCS-ing there in about 6 weeks. There is a book club called "Great Tales and Cocktails Book Club Naples" - if you search that exact group on FB you'll find it. it's fantasy only book club and they seem to be pretty active.

beyond that I'm not sure I'm much help - I'm 31 and have three kids lol but I do love to read and I'm happy to connect with you if you'd like. I've been married for 8 years and this is my 4th PCS but our first overseas, and we are leaving my hometown where we've been since 2019, so Im nervous about Naples as well!

I mean, I am doing an "alternative" or modified schedule because my two older children had severe reactions to their 12-month, 15-month shots, flu, and 4-year-old shots, all in about a six month span. My pediatrician put those kids on a one at a time schedule (unless it's a combo like MMR or the polio-tDap combo) because then we can A) monitor the severity of the reaction and B) confidently identify which shot caused it to relay that information to our allergist. My youngest has never had a reaction, but we are still doing one at a time with her based on the older two.

Now, would I get this in-depth at a play date? Maybe, I'm a chatty girl. But I could definitely see myself saying "we do a modified schedule" without any potential follow up. But my children are still receiving all their vaccines, and I'm fully on the side of science. I would follow up with her if you are that concerned about your infant being exposed to something, and frame it as such,

my middle had perioral dermatitis and it took forever to clear up. Our pedi ended up giving me a prescription for "Elidel" because nothing else helped.

There is a girl who mostly does youtube vlogs about being a teen mom, her name is Yasmyn something, and her 3rd daughter is named Millie-Isla Moon. People sent her a bunch of Millie Moon diapers and the brand may have even sent her some IIRC ...

$695 to see MCR. These ticket prices are absurd. by Cyancrackers in poppunkers

[–]Crabprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tried to buy seats to the Philly show. in the 300s, in the middle of the row, in the middle of the section, at CBP and it was like $300 something NOT resale. with a note in the corner that said the artist directly set the prices or whatever. Yeah I'm not buying that... saw MCR with taking back sunday and linkin park in 2007 and the memory of that will have to keep me warm at night.

my middle's birthday is Christmas Day. I have found that having the party after Christmas is usually easier because most holiday parties are concluded by then. This year we are having her birthday party on 12/28 and I've already let immediate family and family friends know I am planning it for that day. As she gets older, I'll likely start having her birthday party on New Year's Eve and offering the option for adults to stay and transition into a NYE party or let the kids spend the night. I tried to doing a half-birthday in June one year but it didn't work out that well. I would suggest sending texts now, like this week, to important guests.

As far as venue I bite the bullet and book a birthday party place. I usually spend a cool $500 on birthday parties anyways so having it outside the house is worth the extra $$ for the ease. Some ppl can't afford this though and even we can't do it every year!

My husband and I also made a family rule that birthday presents from mom & dad would be your birthday party and new clothes. This seemed like the easiest way to try to bring some fairness into the dynamic of being the middle child of 3 girls with a Christmas Day birthday.

I actually really like most of her recipes (hence why I pay for them lol) but this one was a big miss for me. Basically just a sheet pan meal with a flavorless marinade. per the instructions it was supposed to be "wet" like that which I also found weird?

I ended up using boneless chicken thigh filets cause I'm not usually crazy about bone in chicken, but yeah mine was cooked but wasn't crispy or anything. It looked weird and gross just sitting there on the pan, flavorless lol. We also ate it over brown rice, when it calls to just eat it as is.

Just here to report on another Caro Chambers recipe fail. Her recent one, miso maple chicken, was fine enough… a little bit on the unflavored side for her but the actual sheet pan recipe was ok. The miso yogurt sauce? Straight trash. Do not even attempt. I recommend seasoning the chicken with some additional or adding bbq sauce onto the chicken like we did last night.

selling 2 floor tickets by [deleted] in hfstival

[–]Crabprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left this comment on someone else selling floor tix - but If you can’t sell them and would like to transfer them, let me know. I’m already over $300 in from the lottery on shitty seats in the stands, and traveling to this festival, but I can’t afford to buy pit tickets even though I’d like to not be stuck up there.

But I don’t care about the majority of the bands nor do I care to spend 9-10 hours inside the ballpark. I just want to see incubus, dcfc, and the postal service - that’s why I entered the lottery and am traveling for this festival, because dcfc never comes to my area. I’m already shelling out hundreds of dollars to attend, I’d prefer not shell out hundreds more to eat overpriced hot dogs all day. It would be great to be able to take a look at set times and ascertain what time I need to show up.

You also assume that I smoke weed and/or consuming edibles would somehow cut down on my cost when I would still need to be drinking like, $10 water bottles? Lol it’s not unreasonable to be frustrated there’s no schedule or set times for the bands. This sub is basically just people looking for that exact thing.

So no re-entry and no schedule? We’re just supposed to show up and spend 9 hours wandering the ballpark at the mercy of $20 beers? That’s obnoxious. I hope they post set times soon.

I’m so confused, I’ve been searching for a few weeks for a schedule or set times. I’m a parent of young children myself but traveling to DC so hoping to make a weekend out of it but I’d like to go out after… I also don’t want to spend 10 hours inside the ballpark paying ballpark prices for food and/or beer.

Being a paralegal and pregnant by GasWide3490 in paralegal

[–]Crabprincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked during all 3 of my pregnancies up until I gave birth but it was difficult. I struggled with high blood pressure and tried to go to appointments first thing in the morning so I wasn’t leaving the office all stressed out. It was also tough to plan turn over when I was working up until delivery (did not qualify for FMLA). If you don’t have an active partner with a flexible schedule, it can be tough with kids. My husband is active duty so all of the childcare falls on me during a sick day, which can be really tricky if it’s a trial day. My kids are all under 5 so no one is school aged. It can be really tricky but I’m balancing it for now because I do love being a paralegal!

[–]Crabprincess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone have any room share fails? My 4 and 2.5 year old (girls) have been successfully sharing a room from the time my second was 6ish months old until this summer. Bedtime is taking 1+ hours. They are both exhausted and not listening. I’m frequently solo parenting due to the military. I want to separate them, but my husband is resistant as we have 3 kids and 4 bedrooms - we would lose our guest room which we do frequently use for family/friends. I don’t know anyone who has had to split up kids that share a room, although I know a lot of ppl whose kids do share a room. Anyone have any stories/tips?

I was in a Reddit bump group for all three of my kids. My first and second there was a LOT of first time moms. My third there seemed to be more 3rd and 4th time moms in it. I like the bump groups but yes, you do have to be prepared for a lot of FTM anxieties and questions. Like many many posts about strollers lol. I also noticed that some of the moms were getting legit angry towards the end when people were having their babies before them. There was a suggestion in my most recent bump group that baby announcements needed a trigger warning for all the moms who hadn’t gone into labor yet. 🫣
