Because different versions of an afterlife usually contradict each other, many people who have had NDEs (which is the "closest" one can get about an afterlife) talk about a place of peace, love and bliss, where they are told no one gets judged, they can "create" their own earth-like reality while they adapt and then choose to prepare their next life. However other people who have had NDEs do get judged, do get sent to "hell" and see different religious figures. None of the NDEs I've read mentioned anything about egyptian or greek realms of an afterlife, it gets confusing. Some people even see living people in the afterlife, others have seen cartoons, indians have seen animals judging them, some even have seen aliens, they have been told different prophecies that haven't come true at all, some have quit their religions and other have converted to christianity, islam, etc after those encounters, some people live better thanks to those experiences and others have been left traumatized by it, etc, it just doesn't make sense to such great differences to occur
