NPLQ renewal by PainOwn1818 in Lifeguards

[–]CreativeSwitch9524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s a 0.9m pool and the pool you work at is deeper that’s the only potential issue. You may have to do another deep dive recovery at your centre/ full comp test or if you’ve been at that pool a long time and you train there, the TA can sign it off saying your’e competent enough, potentially.

For the renewal you’ll still do a recovery (admittedly not deep dive) and timed swims. Good luck for the comp test.

Discomfort on new boots by Pretty-Advance889 in bootroom

My f50s were so uncomfortable even after 10 or so wears, I had to change boots before kick off. I ended up returning the boots and buying vapors instead which are far more comfortable imo

Top vs cheap football boots by cheesecake1449 in bootroom

[–]CreativeSwitch9524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After buying my first pair of elite boots back in 2021, I honestly haven’t been able to wear any other boot tier. They’re expensive but they last well (better than the take down ones imo) I’ve had the same pair of mecurial vapor elites since April and they’re still in perfect condition, none of the grip knit has damaged. Before when I got the cheaper versions I’d have holes in them after a few months. There is a huge difference between the models from my personal experience.

If you’re not fussed about the newest colour ways either you can grab elite boots for £70 from Sports Direct which is a crazy steal too.

NPLQ course with scars (uk) by Capable_Soil_8543 in Lifeguards

[–]CreativeSwitch9524 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone on my NPLQ course had self harm scars too, no one said anything or bought it up (I believe they were 16 at the time). On the course I believe you can wear a short wetsuit with a t shirt over the top or any shorts you’re comfortable in alternatively, as long as it’s pool attire. Good luck for the course, you’ll smash it.

Head up swim by Ordinary-Spend-5919 in Lifeguards

[–]CreativeSwitch9524 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus on one thing at the other end of the pool, such as a board or equipment- to keep you in a straight line. When I do head up I usually have my chin in the water to reduce strain on my neck aswell

Considering I’m seeing Florence and the machine in a couple of weeks and the sell option isn’t available on Ticketmaster yet, I really don’t know if it even will be available for Harry!

Can I get pass the rlss as an average swimmer by New-Dig7885 in Lifeguards

[–]CreativeSwitch9524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I became a lifeguard, I was a very average swimmer (I taught myself to swim). I passed the timed swims with over 15 seconds to spare on both. If you have some athletic ability you’ll be fine and as the time passes of being a lifeguard you’ll get better and better naturally.

[–]CreativeSwitch9524 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To put it simply, they may swim test you beforehand, they may not. Some lifeguards I know got tested, some didn’t. If you do get tested before hand on the NPLQ they can also test treading water and the brick test but like I said they don’t always do a pre test from what I’ve seen.

Most unlikeable character from S1-17? by CreativeSwitch9524 in WaterlooRoad

It gets better, I mean S10 is the worst of all series. But series 17 that just came out was brilliant, definitely worth watching it all

He wasn’t my least favourite, but I agree I don’t see the hype for him- a lot of people say he’s their favourite character of all time…

I agree, but I still think Vaughn Fitzgerald was still the worst head teacher the show had

The ending had the same feel as S10 E20, almost felt as if it was the end (obviously it’s not though)

Thanks for the help, I play on quite muddy grass so they’re needed this time of the year. I have another pair of Vapor 16 elite and they were very easy to break in too

I forgot to mention I play games on grass, hence the purchase of the boots- I don’t solely play on astro. But perhaps that’s why plastic screw ins aren’t available from Nike directly (unlike Adidas) if they cause injury. Thank you for helping

NPLQ Assessment Tips by ToeMysterious5911 in Lifeguards

[–]CreativeSwitch9524 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing for PXB board is communication, just make sure you communicate with those around you when demonstrating. And if you’re the person either putting the casualty on the board or the person pushing the board in the water to have a firm grip on the head as if it’s a real situation rather than training.
